Does anyone think The Troubles could kick off again in N Ireland after Brexit?

I’d be interested in what you think there as the news I get here is fragmented at best.

My research indicates very probably if the Tories continue their incompetent Brexshit process. Should there be a public vote to separate from the UK and remain in the EU, then the violence still happens, but more from Loyalists.

Which research is that?

The potential is there, especially if there are physical barriers of any sort ...such as customs checks, either between Northern Ireland and the Republic, or as it seems is going to happen between the UK mainland and Northern Ireland. It has got the Orangemen het up already. We can never discount the threat of violence when there are still large numbers of both Protestant and Republican paramilitaries around in Northern Ireland. To quote Gerry Adams a few years ago “they haven’t gone away, you know !”

Not if religion can be kept out of it.

Not really about religion any more....it’s about national identity.

@Marionville But still used as fuel by religious zealots in the North.

@Petter Yes of course...but it’s not possible to keep religion and National identity out of anything in Northern Ireland...that is why I responded to your rather unrealistic comment! You have to live here to understand that.
