If Michael Gove hadn't done the last minute "dirty" on Boris Johnson in the Tory party's leadership contest in 2016, then Theresa May would not have become the Tory leader, and with it, British prime minister.
If Boris had been elected leader and therefore become Prime Minister in 2016, the Tories would not have scuppered the subsequent general election, because the manifesto was drawn up by Theresa May's sycophants (later sacked).
That manifesto went against her ministers' advice and alienated the electorate. Thus the Conservatives would not have had to limp along with a hobbled government that was continuously being defeated in parliament.
Therefore full and final Brexit would certainly be a "done thing" by now.
So, depending on your opinion regarding Brexit, Is Michael Gove a saint or a devil?
Your speculation around what might have happened had Gove not been a backstabbing little shit are debatable. But backstabing or otherwise he's still a little shit. Ask any teacher. His one decent act was canceling a bid for a Saudi prison's contract..
I think Gove is rotten little fink who miscalculated....but frankly I’d rather not have to think about him at all. History can’t be changed so it’s not worth speculating what could, should, or may have happened.
I agree completely with your assessment of Gove.
@OwlInASack Better (brain) wash yourself thoroughly to eliminate any possible contamination.
@OwlInASack In fact Gove had a far from privileged start in life...he was born to an unmarried mother in Aberdeen, who put him up for adoption. His adoptive parents were Labour supporting, his father a fish processor. He was educated at state schools but was clever, so won a scholarship to Robert Gordon Academy in Aberdeen, where he qualified for a bursary because they were not wealthy. It was when he got to Oxford that he met Boris and he followed him as President of the Oxford Union the year after he did, he also joined the Tory party. He has certainly put his humble beginnings behind him, forgetting the young boy he once was, and becoming more devout in pursuit of right wing philosophy than most who are born with rank and privilege.
@OwlInASack yes...much the same.

Posted by MattHardyA Boris promise is just a lie that hasn't happened yet. Whatever Sue Grey says, no way is Boris going to admit he lied and resign.
