I have been a UU member for the last four years. Finding a UU congregation was a good choice for me. Some people have a good support system of family and friends and don't need to join something. But if you don't have that social support, and if you are atheist, the UU's can be good.

Must be nice when a congregation lets "lay" sermons happen. ...most "worship committees" are negotiated works in progress or following minister plans
UU is not a religion, by definition, is it?
@Lydiaeli Some UU congregations have ministers and are sorta religious. UU started as christian religions back when. The one I go to is lay led and there is NO dogma to believe in, to join all you have to agree to are the principals about treating other humans with respect. Our services are muli pronged with many themes, not all towards any religious direction. Check tham out.

@Lydiaeli, @GreenAtheist I speak at a lot of UU congregations and only rarely communicate with ministers. I am called to speak on the Sundays the ministers have off, or for congregations without ministers
@Lydiaeli creedless UU's have been that way since the merger of Universalists who WERE Christian and Unitarians who were not trintarian. ....since the sixties ....there is no dogma or required alleged deity worship ....about the only real requirement is DIVERSITY which preserves unique thought and respect for others who would not impose. ...
