Just came across this article on BBC today. I visited all these beautiful places 3.5 months ago (solo). I highly recommend visiting it. I found it to be very safe, cheap and welcoming.

Must admit I thought most of Central Asia was off limits due to fighting and guerilla warfare among feuding factions. My daughter and grandson are going caving in Kazakhstan this summer, I refused because I can’t run as fast as I used to. This gives me hope for safety!
