I'm a week into my Europe trip, landed in Portugal last Monday night and have been to 6 cities/towns since... here's a few pictures though it's almost impossible to chose which to post! The architecture, the history, the cakes, the tiles! Just FYI if anyone is doing similar, I've been using trains and buses so far without difficulty, managing with my minimal Spanish plus English and once or twice French, staying in tiny hotels as cheap as possible ($20-40), and they've all been spotless and very friendly. Meals in restaurants are $10-20, ridiculously oversized, I can't believe it as most people here are tiny. The coffee and pastries and breads, fish, lamb, even the clams, are world-class (and I don't say this about everything because I haven't had time to try the rest!). Their 2 beers both come in 0% alcohol which suits me!
I loved Portugal when I was there a few years back. Planning on going to Santa Maria Island in October 2020 to visit a friend. Think I'll fly.
