Allow me to vent and bitch about my current doctor: I have fibromyalgia, in addition to some other chronic issues, so summer of 2017 I switched to an internist so I’d have ONE doc. I also have a chronic stomach problem, so sure, I see the need for a GI. But I swear, with every little problem I have, this man wants me to see another specialist. Headache? Neurologist. Fell down, bursitis flared up? Orthopedist. Depressed? Psychiatrist.
I’m going tomorrow for a cough I’ve had for months. I fully expect him to want to refer me to a lung specialist. Enough, if he does I’m getting another doctor.
Dammit.
My narcissistic, histrionic mother had 12 different doctors at the time she died; she LOVED medical(or any) attention. With each time this happens, I hate it because it feels like her. I’d just about rather die than be anything like her!
Thanks for listening to all that.
Please feel free to discuss this in "Pain Management and Chronic Pain"
Your health issues sound a lot like mine, but yes, they want specialists for every little thing.
I'm so sorry. That sounds really frustrating.
My General Doctor is the same. As soon as I have transportation resolved I am switching.
Tiniest thing and he wants to refer me off. I hate it.
And over the phone, refusing to even see me about it.
Here’s to our finding better doctors!
