It’s not unusual for artists to pay tribute to other artists they admire and respect by performing cover versions of their songs. Morten Harket and a-ha had a close friendship and admiration for The Everly Brothers…due to their manager Terry Slater having played bass in the Everly’s touring band in the 60s & early 70s, they even recorded a cover of Crying In The Rain the Everly’s 1963 hit at their suggestion in 1989…when it became a hit all over again for a-ha. Today it’s Morten’s 65th birthday so to celebrate I’m posting this cover of a few Everly Brothers hits he sang in close harmony with fellow Norwegian singer Bjorn Eidsvag at an openair summer concert in Kristiansand, Norway in 1991…with apologies for the poor quality visuals, but I think the sound is ok….
