Sheku Kanneh-Mason is a young English cellist born in Nottingham to parents of Antiguan and Sierra Leonese heritage. He is the third of seven children, all of whom play musical instruments to a very high standard. Sheku won the BBC’s “Young Musician of the Year” in 2016 when he was 17. He then was chosen to play at the wedding of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle in 2018 which boosted his career. Here he performs a beautiful version of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah, arrangement by Tom Hodge…

The tune is played too often/ I liked Cohen's version.

Yes…but that’s just your personal view and I also realise it’s become a song that has been covered a lot. It’s very popular that is why! Cohen himself said k.d. Lang’s version of the song was “the perfect one” when he heard it, and I’m inclined to agree. However much I think it’s the best one, it doesn’t stop me from listening to other versions and I do like this instrumental arrangement very much.

@pamagain I know I inherited my ability to sing from my father…but we’re hardly musical geniuses like this family.
