The Scorpions, legendary German rock band had a worldwide hit in 1991 with Wind Of Change which lead singer Klaus Meine wrote after they did their first gig in Moscow at the time of “Peristroyka” and a softening in relations between The Soviet Union and the West, which was followed soon after by the fall of the Berlin Wall. More than twenty years later in 2013 they were performing in concert in Athens in Greece with Morten Harket of a-ha guesting on this particular song and harmonising in the chorus with Klaus.
I liked the Scorpions. One of my faves was “The Zoo”. I never saw them live, but did see UFO at this concert— which lacked Ozzy because the tragic death of Randy Rhoads: [concertarchives.org]
Rudolf Schenker‘s brother Michael Schenker was in UFO but not at the time I saw them play:

Michael Schenker was a member (of course) of the Michael Schenker Group (MSG) which recalls your thread on umami.
The Scorpions “Wind Of Change” was huge in the early 90s as it captured the fall of the Berlin Wall.
It’s weird now to read this:
"Wind of Change" is a song by West German rock band Scorpions, recorded for their eleventh studio album Crazy World (1990).
“West Germany” was actually once a thing way back when. I grew up in the 70s-80s so recall well the split of Europe, but that was so long ago.
I remember all the history of post 1945 Europe as I was actually born that year - so my entire life dates from the end of WW2 until the present day. I visited many of the soviet bloc countries prior to the fall of The Berlin Wall including East Germany before the reunification of Germany. The transformation of former Comminist countries since the 1990s has been swift and dramatic to say the least! Empty shelves in shops was commonplace all over Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Yugoslavia…the difference between our western standard of living and theirs was stark in the 1970s & 1980’s. Wind of Change seemed be emblematic of the change needed in these countries at that time, and it became an anthem for that reason.
