After hearing the sad news of Morten Harket’s Parkinson’s diagnosis, which he revealed to the world last week via a-ha’s official biographer Jan Omdahl…I’m glad I have been lucky enough to have experienced him perform live with the band. I did miss out on my last concert after travelling to Oslo in 2022 when unfortunately Morten came down with laryngitis and found he was unable to sing so the concert was cancelled at very short notice. I’m grateful too that a thing called the Internet means we can watch our favourite artists perform in concert whenever we wish, from the very start of their careers until the present day, from the comfort of our own homes on our TV screens. Morten says he doesn’t know if he will have the ability to sing ever again, I’m really sad to think we may never hear live music in his uniquely beautiful vocals ever again but take comfort in knowing there is such a wealth of recordings and videos from his 40 year music career to appreciate and enjoy.
This one is from 2010 and a-ha’s Ending In A High Note concert in Oslo. -
