Interesting read on GMO corn and health. [t.co]
Yeah the scientific evidence seems to be mounting that GMO food is safe for human consumption. One huge problem though is the corporate take-over of food production. Only producing a couple different varieties of a crop, patenting a GMO organism, creating a GMO crop that requires a specific pesticide (usually one that that same company who patented the GMO organism owns) , cross pollination and even suing farmers whose fields are adjacent to a GMO crop for theft because of cross pollination are all consequences of the corporate take-over of food production.
An article that poses some interesting questions but is short on substantive information.
@silvereyes Just question who paid whom to write what opinion and who independently verified it. And don't be surprised when you find out who bought whom. [gmoanswers.com]
@PhitDoctor50 3 simple questions @PhitDoctor50 1. Do you and your family consume GMO products 2. Why are GMO products not properly labelled as such? 3. Surely if they are so good as this report makes out proper labelling as GMO can be broadcast in the label?
@PhitDoctor50 Life experience and education moulds the way we react and frequently respond. I was badly advised when 14 and moved from learning sciences hence my incredibly poor knowledge on such. However what little teaching that I did receive followed by years of identifying misinformation and damage done to people by so called scientific advance has left me like a soldier with trench alertness hypersensitive to all claims of benefit. I never forget the sight of the then U.K. Minister for Health or Agriculture at the height of the mad cow disease outbreak in the U.K. feeding his daughter beefburger. ... it has been a pleasure to have you explain things I did not previously properly comprehend. Thank you. I will still reserve judgement and not knowingly expose myself to GMO products.
As you say an interesting read which immediately gave rise to the questions "who funded the research?" and "who has independently verified it?"
I've been telling people for years that all corn is GMO. Thank you! I'm a farmer and a farmers market grower.
The modification occurring 50 years and longer ago did not include splicing in the genes from other species. Modification occurred by fertilizing one plant with another known to have certain superior qualities. Let's face it carrots were once purple and white until the Dutch turned them orange! They didn't cross pollinate with turmeric! As for farmer's markets the buyers unless different from the Australian, tend to be looking for value for money - not hard for farmers to accomplish when the supermarket adds 2-300% to cost price, snob value of being seen at the farmer's market, and supporting local producers rather than supermarket produce from the other end of the country or China.
However I think if you haven't already been right through this site, the search button is good, you will find many interesting, albeit biased, comments.
I wish they would stop effing with our food. People talk about vaccinations causing this or that, but I think all the crap that is put in and on our food causes more damage. Natural food is good for us. Chemical laden, fake, preservative laced food is not.
