Most theists will tell you that God answers their prayers...just a step away from saying that God actually talks to them.

When the JW's or Mormons used to knock on my door Sunday afternoon (if I answered) I would immediately ask them if they talked to God. When they invariably said "Yes", I would say in a very authoritative voice: "WELL TELL GOD THAT I'M WATCHING FOOTBALL!" and close the door.
