I would like to make a few book suggestions to get all of you addicted. They are sagas, though, so they are long, but well worth it. Ask about them at your own risk, because I will tell you about them at length.
I have read the first wheel of time, and the first mistborn, couldn't get behind either of them.
My go to is Ender's Game, and the parallel novel Ender's Shadow, followed by the sequels to Ender's Shadow. Ender's game has sequels too, but they were not my cup of tea.
I am up for it!
You asked for it.
First of all is the Wheel of Time saga by Robert Jordan, and finished by Brandon Sanderson after Jordan passed. It is 15 books, including the prologue book New Spring. It is your classic fight against evil with a prophesied Messiah type set in a 12th century setting. There is magic and politics galore and is a real ride. Lots of action and adventure.
Then there is the Mistborn saga by Brandon Sanderson. Totally different world, totally different magic system. The first era (there are two) is more of a post-apocolyptic setting and the magic is based on the consumption and use of metals, each let's having it's own attribute. The plot is a fight for freedom and survival in a dying world in the first era, followed by crime fighting, mystery, and adventure in the second. It is part of Brandon Sanderson's cosmere, the literary universe he created, with books he write based on other worlds in this universe. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Posted by ReignmondI read this back in 2018. Absolutely loved it. It is an oddly small sized book, so it is good to travel with. [amazon.com]
