I’m so jealous! I love the little wooden containers. Do you make any with screw on lids?
Doing the trees was such a great idea.
Not tried screw on lids yet. The trees were for my daughter's dorm rooms, just something fun to give them. The containers were made because I did not have a box for presents (necklaces) I purchased for my daughter's.
Here's the necklace in the container.
Working on a lathe is one of the best ways to work wood. The parts just kind of appear. Don't get to do enough of this to be good at it anymore. Sure is fun.
The boxes are acacia and waxed to a gloss finish. the far right is purple heart and that is its natural color. I have used different finishes on the shot glasses. Those happen to be polyurethane.
I used to have a beautiful African padauk desk. Scratched so easily ! Your work is beautiful.
@dutchirish the very first thing I turned, was Padauk Peppermill. Love that rich color.
I made Purple Heart cribbage boards for my sibs. Love the color. There are pic in our gallery for the group.
Beautiful pieces? What type of wood? What is the finish on the shot glasses? Food safe?
Those are exquisite pieces. Where do you dfind that beautiful wood? Do you know what it will look like before you put it on the lathe?
Some is local wood. Other more exotic is purchased. I have no idea what it will look like when I start 99% of the time.
