Hi folks, while Canadian and being an outsider, I have some opinions I can share on the last mid-term elections. While I support what Trump has managed to do so far in lowering taxes and helping to de-regulate business and commerce, I have some very serious reservations at what I saw from a more personal standpoint. I basically think it was mainly lost by doubling down on Kavanaugh with all of the doubt swirled up by the accusations. It didn't matter if they were true or not, it is just that it looked credible enough to alienate most of the women in the country. He created a rebound vote and it was wrong. He should have had a plan B candidate in the wings that he could swap in. I blame this on, not Trump, but the religious right. Boom, they threw the admin under the bus for a Supreme Court appointment. OK, on other issues I do not think the Administration was careful enough to prove that they were not racist when the smears started. The rhetoric was too slanted to the right. Also, the Trump was pretty much branded a misogynist and did not manage to play it down. One major thing that helped to bring this administration down was his Tweets. It should have been managed by a professional team. I know that there may have been some big data they were playing to appeal to a segment of voters but I think they completely alienated the intelligent and independent right leaning voters. I could see this happening. There is a large undocumented independent majority that stated in this election that they didn't agree with the installation of church in state and were appalled at some of the use of social media. So, what to do? He is now in a completely defensive position. He needs to hunker down, re-group and shut the f@@@ up for a while and let the pros get this on track and play defense in the upcoming media circus the leftists and going to pour down on his head. Will the hacks come after me for saying this? Probably, but I am not anti or pro. I am just stating this as an external observer. It is really an appeal to folks to help get some sane dialog around the political situation.

Trump isn't perfect by any means, but I give him a break partly because of bias in the media. In regards to racism and nazism, why has the media never drawn mass attention to Obama's affiiation with Louis Farrakhan, one of the most notorious racists and anti-semites in the US? I really can't get over the media letting Obama off the hook for that.

Regarding Kavanaugh, I was appalled to see such vague stories from women nearly cause him to lose his nomination.

Trump was a necessary evil to wake America up... we need progressive politicians on both sides

The fact that the FBI cleared Kavanaugh disputing Mrs Fords claims shows they made the correct choice. To pull him out because of a mere accusation would set A Very dangerous precedent. The truth really does matter and should always be the deciding factor. Not understanding what you mean by saying that the Admin had been brought down, nothing is further from the truth. And exactly what were they suppose to do to prove he is not racist or a misogynist? You know the saying about trying to prove a negative, right? I think using twitter to talk to the masses instead of msm interviews is fucking brilliant. And for the record, Clinton and Obama lost more house seats than Trump while actually gaining in the Senate. He is far from being defensive now, he is way too confident to be there.

@clarkems Who called you a Liberal?

Kavanaugh will likely be one of the best judges in the US Supreme Court. Three democrat senators that apposed him got their ass beat. Trump will be re-elected in 2020, no problem.

I agree with some of what you said, but I'm vehemently opposed to what Trump is doing to the Republican party. People are more willing than ever to ignore the facts. The facts that are right there in front of their face get excused away or flat out denied as slander. This President is a stain on the party and the people who support Trump, and it isn't the republican party I remember, a party of principle. This unreasonable faith like protection for the President's outlandish behavior, and sometimes downright immoral conduct is due to the satisfaction conservatives feel when Trumps slams wildly against the left. It's an intoxicating high, and it feels good, it feels right, and it's not.

I voted for Trump because I wanted him to shake up those idiots in Washington and he’s doing a good job of that so far so I disagree with your acessment on him as he’s like a breath of fresh air after 8 years of the liberal left wing idiot Obama.
