Here in Belgium we have more then two political parties. Some are "left", some are "right", but Always we have coalitians with a certain diversity. In great lines the parties look at our society in two ways: one way thinks that the free market and the rich have to rule the economy, and the other side says that the needs of the people have to rule. The distance between both sides isn't very large for we have a very democratic tradition. When I look to the States then I see an enormous gab between ordinairy people and the (very) rich. The US is a tirth world country on one hand, and a financial Paradise on the other. In the states "socialism" seems to be a dirty word, while in Europe it is a base attitude in organising society. I think the global welness and happiness in Belgium is better then in th US.

l find it interesting how people try to compare the US with other countries when there really isn't many like us. Belgium is just over 11.5 thousand square miles with a little over 11 million people... My state of North Carolina alone is over 53,000 square miles and just over 10 mil. people. There's no way one can look at the two countries and think ''damn, why are they so different in so many ways'' without taking that into consideration. lt really does affect the economy in so many ways it's not even funny.. That's just my 2 cents anyway.. Cheers
