I've heard there's an atheist hiking group in Utah, it's definitely not my local atheist group on Ogden. Any ideas?
Unfortunately not, this is the first I’ve heard of it
@CurtisHall sounds good, I'm interested in any Utah hiking events, especially things that allow dogs
Congrats. Great country. However, the hike to the summit of Timpanogos, towering above where you hiked, would be most outstanding - a hike I've completed at least 3 times.
On another outing below the trailhead of the Timp Trail, I joined some friends "after dark" on an overnight campout one September many years ago. In the morning, I woke to a magical and luminous, bright "yellow" world. We were camped under an aspen canopy - an experience I will NEVER forget.
Mount Timpanogos, sometimes informally referred to as Timp, is the second highest mountain in Utah's Wasatch Range. Timpanogos rises to an elevation of 11,752 ft (3,582 m) above sea level in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. With 5,270 feet of topographic prominence, Timpanogos is the 47th-most prominent mountain in the contiguous United States.[3]
The mountain towers about 7,000 feet over Utah Valley, including the cities of Lehi, Provo, Orem, Pleasant Grove, American Fork, Lindon and others. The exposed portion of the mountain is made up entirely of limestone and dolomite from the Pennsylvanian period, and is about 300 million years old.
I’ve actually been planning a hike up Timp for some time now. This Saturday will be the day.
@CurtisHall Start early and stop to enjoy the sights often. Awesome! Good luck!
