Great composition. Trees on island vs paddles in boats. Plus the color.

Alamitos Bay, Long Beach CA.

@BDair paddling club or a race

I took the photo from a sailboat I was racing, or drifting on. It is local paddling club practicing.

@BDair other than the trip from Annapolis to Florida have you spent much time on the east coast?

I did a few road trips to Florida to race Tornado catamarans back in the late '80's, in Ft. Walton Beach, St. Petersburg, and Miami.

... and I also raced in Oyster Bay, Long Island NY.

@BDair if I am being too nosey just tell me to hush it... do you usually stay along the CA coast or do you do any long runs?

Usually I sail locally, up and down the coast. But I've done lots of offshore passages between the West coast and Hawaii in races and deliveries. The farthest I've sailed is from San Francisco to Tahiti.

@BDair that sounds wonderful & exciting!

These are Polynesian style out rigger canoes. They are very fast and seaworthy out in the ocean. There are also several groups that paddle Dragon boats.
