Actually, Libertarians are gaining ground. The outperformed the Green party in the last election and should have ballot access in all 50 states again. These are pretty big accomplishments. I think many people are closet Libertarians who fear change. They like the idea of more individual freedom, less government intervention but are afraid to change the status quo.

I am 24 for the record. I think having a job and getting out of leftist indoctrination camp (my bad, "liberal arts college" ) helps you see the sense in a more libertarian/conservative philosophy, so most younger people don't.

People haven't warmed to the idea of libertarianism, yet. They may not.
