I just joined the Agnostic site a couple days ago. I’m glad to find a group specifically geared to people with substance abuse issues. Also your experience with any 12 step programs, be they good or bad or seeking. I’m in Cleveland, near the origins of AA in Akron. Within the past few years, we are slowly organizing new meetings for Agnostics, Atheists, freethinkers or people who just want to check out an alternative to traditional AA. We currently have six meetings out of over 500 in the NE Ohio area. Progress/change is slow in AA but meetings are quickly growing in size. Anyone else out there from other states have Agnostic meetings. Please share, discuss.
Hi and welcome to the group.
I for one have been in the process of leaving AA. I've been in and out of the rooms for a couple years, and that program just never sat right with me. The 12 step process just doesn't interest me anymore. Been looking into alternatives like Smart recovery which seems the most appealing.
Posted by Fibonacci1618This is an article discussing the differences and similarities between a 12 Step Program and SMART Recovery. I'm curious about your thoughts or experiences between the two..... [thefix.com]
