Would anyone like to record an audiobook for others to hear?

Volunteer for LibriVox
LibriVox volunteers read and record chapters of books in the public domain (books no longer under copyright), and make them available for free on the Internet. Practically, this means we record books published before 1923. All our recordings (including yours, if you volunteer for us) are also donated into the public domain.
We record books in all languages.
You do not need any prior experience to volunteer for LibriVox, nor do you need to audition or send us samples. All you need is your voice, some free software, your computer, and maybe an inexpensive microphone.
Oh this sounds fun, I have a little digital recorder, will look into it. Does it matter what your accent is?
i do not mind volunteering here and there but i also like to be paid for my professional work. i have done some acting. but i will think about it nonetheless, after seeing what it entails. since i am disabled (not my voice lol) my energies are limited.

I used to volunteer to read books for the blind, no compensation but very rewarding. I was a radio dj for 17 years but enjoyed donating my time to read for visually impaired folks.
For years I have purchased 2 audiobooks per month, on Security Security income that’s my limit so I very much appreciate people who volunteer to read books so I can enjoy them free of charge!
@greywolf3 reading to the blind is one thing. reading for distribution is another. i will have to check into it and see what becomes of these books. i have not, so far, and you have not said -- are they given for free to libraries, or to the blind, or...? being donated into the public domain is one thing; even things in the public domain can be sold. when i find out i'll be able to make a better informed decision about what to do. and i still have to consider my limited energies. i'm not trying to be selfish. i am trying to stay alive!

@genessa There is a link in my original post where one can get complete information. I have no experience with the service other than enjoying their audiobooks so I can’t answer for Librivox. There are a lot of people who volunteer to read for them so I imagine they enjoyed the experience.
