Tangible
He said “if only you were tangible”.
Tangible like the wind unseen but heard whispering through the trees?
Does wind not exist because it is heard but invisible to the human eye?
And what about the babbling brook that lulls you to sleep at night only unseen and without touch?
Is the water moving slowly and gently only exist when you touch its wet coolness?
Tangible like stars in the night sky close enough to be seen and if you try really hard, you can put your finger on the one closest but can’t really feel it.
Do stars not exist because we can’t land on them like the face of the moon?
Tangible like the scent of a woman passing by, so real you can taste it on your tongue?
Does she not exist because you refused to reach out and touch her?
Or tangible like the image of my lips pressed against yours as you fall asleep thinking about what is left to the mind’s eye and the quivering of skin yet to be touched?

Hi Carole -- Love the sentiments of your poem, but I'm confused about some of the lines and I ask you to explain your thoughts/attitude (on men touching women) in detail. Wonder what Joe Biden would think of your line, "Does she not exist because you refused to reach out and touch her?" I'm of a past-it generation, I know that. Are you saying women should be admired but not touched? I can agree with this, but then even a look from a man can be interpreted in a disparaging way too.

This poem has nothing do with politics, Joe Biden, or what is considered unwanted touching. Lol. It’s kust a poem, stream of consciousness, inspired from an online dating experience I had once. Too funny though that it became a little like a “political statement”. So IS NOT. Thank your for your thoughts.
