Kurt Vonnegut is my very favorite writer. He wrote each of his books in a totally different style and all his styles are refreshingly delightful. Why the Nobel committee passed him over is a mystery to me, but maybe because they pegged him as a science fiction writer. It is not the genre that decides the greatness of the writing. It is the writing itself. He was deep, he was astute, he was tongue-in-cheek and he was funny.
