If you ever get a chance, read this book by American author Charles Miller.
"The Battle for the Bundu" is a treasured book on my shelves.
[goodreads.com]
"Miller’s book is the most accurate and detailed account of this little known part of the First World War. A fascinating epic about an amazing German general, von Lettow-Vorbeck. It’s an account of his campaign against the Allies, which lasted throughout the entire war. In fact he was still fighting after the armistice, because no one was able to get through to him there. With a small force of German officers and loyal native troops he managed to hold up something like a quarter of a million Allied forces."
"Paul Emil von Lettow-Vorbeck was the only undefeated German general in World War I, and his army was the only one allowed a victory march beneath Brandenburg Gate."

You know I just joined this group and this was the first post I've seen. The word Bundu caught my interest. It sounds like a native name to where ever they were fighting along side the loyal native troops. I like the word. I am off topic a bit but it sounds like a great story to follow up on. Thank you for the post. I will look into this more.

Bundu is the colloquial East African term for untamed bush country. There was a lot of it about. (There still is!)
