General Hayden states that covert influence campaigns work best in fractured societies. I really don’t think so. “Fractured societies” where there is freedom of thought and expression best express the will of the people, not “the truth.” This is because the people know that the truth givers make mistakes as the General acknowledges.
The fact is that the people who voted for Trump have every reason to believe that they got exactly what they wanted. The reports that lots of them are jumping ship and feeling betrayed by the President are greatly exaggerated.
Thank you for the post. The book appears to be an attempt to repair our fractured society. It seems to describe the symptoms and their consequences instead of their cause.
