Everything the media writes these days must have some kind of disaster because it is what sells papers. What is missing is the hard core investigative reporting that once was. In addition the government allowed monopolies in the media to occur which restricts what is printed. There are liberal papers and conservative ones both of which print slanted news.

There are also news organizations that provide investigative reporting and relatively unbiased news reports. As with most everything, absolutes usually are not.

I agree... Local news stations are garbage

While I'll admit local stations, and news papers, are also bought entities of corporate news, they can provide good information towards local events, and such. Awareness to current criminal actions and issues like alerts. But yes, when it comes to national and world news they are indeed another perception management. tool.
