Yes indeed. The companies that use palm oil participate in the destruction of the last outpost of Orangutan habitat. Palm plantations in Indonesia are cutting down & fragmenting the forest. See a picture of a lone creature clinging to a trunk surrounded by desolation. I would urge everyone to write these companies & tell them why. Cross palm oil off of the grocery list.

Yes, some other people avoid palm oil, myself included. I avoid all oil for health and additionally palm oil because of deforestation/genocide of orangutans.

No. Just olive and vegetable.

I don't eat palm oil, and the palm oil I have to make soap and other stuff comes from responsibly harvested sources. I haven't used any in several years.

Yes! It's evil. Whole forests, as well as all the inhabitants of the forests, are burned so palms can be farmed. Mass burnings destroy wildlife and creates pollution adding to climate issues. Read labels and don't by products that contain palm oil. It is used in manufacturing for products like gummy bears, prepared food and candy. We don't need it. Other great healthy choices are avocado oil, olive oil and coconut oil.

Yes, but not because I"m avoiding palm oil. We use only a little oil in cooking, usually safflower or sesame.

I use olive oil. extra virgin. I use little so willing to buy.

@BettyColeman Olive oil is good, but there's lots of it counterfeit.

@EdEarl I watch what I buy. I have used olive oil since I was 24 and now I am 70. I won't change. I am willing to spend the money for the oil I consider the best.

safflower is a good oil and a reasonable price.

@EdEarl I believe it and it is a shame we cannot trust our country to give us correct information on foods.

@BettyColeman It's true, olive oil is excellent. Last time we bought olive oil, it sat unused until it went bad.

@EdEarl Yes, Consumer Reports analyzed Olive Oil, and most of the "Extra Virgin" oil isn't.
It's far better to eat olives. We can get all the oil we need and then some from food. At most, a drop of oil is needed for stir-frying. But, for health, eat olives, avocados, and nuts to get heart-healthy oils.

@Bob4Health agree even less if you don't fry

No. It is good for you.

Remember, palm oil not for cooking. You can cook with it, but it is good for other things, like massaging it in you scalp and hair etc...

The problem with it is buying it will lead to the extinction of Orangatangs. No one needs to add oils to food.
And if you must, there are better sources.

Yes. And when I read ingredients on so many Vegan foods I am disappointed to find palm oil. I get so excited until I read, then end up putting it back. Some will say they are sustainably sourced but how is that verified ?

Mystical, FYI some palm oil comes from Brazil that doesn't threaten orangutans. This is a minority of the market and it's tough to verify which product has Brazilian palm oil. We can't call the cookie company and expect a knowing answer to the question. But, if you're desperate for palm oil cookies, ask the cookie maker where their palm oil is sourced.
