The 10 US cities with the worst crime rates.
273kelvin comments on Oct 31, 2019:
A classic case of false logic. The main cause of crime is poverty (Wall st and the white house notwithstanding). So even if your meme is correct (and it is disputable). It is quite understandable that poor cities with higher amounts of ethnic communities will be left-wing and vote for ethnic candidates. Did you really think that they would vote for the white billionaires of the GOP? Okay, lets put it another way. Suppose I point out "ATTRACTIVE WOMEN WITH BIG TITS MARRY SUCCESSFUL RICH GUYS" It sounds plausible. The head cheerleader and the quarterback are American dating cliches. Does that mean that going with poor guys makes women ugly and their tits shrink?
What is the purpose of this site?
273kelvin comments on Oct 30, 2019:
This is a broad-church (if you pardon the phrase). It can be a dating site but be prepared to travel, as distances between members can be large. It can be a place to vent your thoughts and feelings about religion. Many in the bible belt find this therapeutic It can also be a place to just hang-out. Without someone bringing up "Have you found Jesus?" and you saying "No, have tried looking down the back of the sofa?" Explore some of the many groups we have here. Singles/mingles/chat is a good one to start with.

I keep in touch with most of my exes. With 2 exceptions. my ex-wife who so poisoned my eldest daughter that she will have nothing to do with me. (I hear that she is not talking to her mom now too). I have absolutely no desire to see or hear from her again. The other is my last great love affair which left me so fucked up that she is like radioactive material to me. Any more contact would be liable to send me spiraling down. All the rest are great. I see J quite often and we get drunk and just sleep together without sex. R is my other daughter's mom and even though we tried to unsuccessfully rekindle it a few years back. We still can stay reasonably civil. I help out with the odd man chore. Some others are on my FB list but I won't out give clues.

I did not know that I had a restrictive frenulum. For those not used to uncircumcised men, this is a small strip of skin that connects the foreskin to the head at the apex of the vee. It can stop a guy pulling the skin all the way back. I had masturbated of course and could pull it back enough to clean, so I did not know it was supposed to go further back. My first time was with a lady 12 years older who loved a good romp. I made her cum 3 times but she found blood in her vagina afterward. It was only then that I confessed that she was my 1st and I showed her the rip. It must have been about 1cm of tear. It may have hurt at the time but I did not notice and looking at it now I cannot even see a trace of it left

It might be time for you to consider some pills. Viagra is the most common one but perhaps Cialis may be more appropriate. Why do people put pictures of their kids but not themselves in dating profiles?
273kelvin comments on Oct 26, 2019:
I don't know why anyone would just put pics of their kids up. But kids on dating sites, in general, are wrong. It is worse in my mind when a woman puts any pics of her kids up. If a guy does it? Well, he is showing he is caring (but still wrong). If a woman does it? Then let's face it most preditors are male and they will be the only ones seeing them.

I am against it. Here is the best argument that I heard. If you lived in someplace like Rwanda that suffered massive genocide. With little or no resources to deal with a large prison population. Then it might be the only way to go. But we do not live in a place like that and we do not need it.

They came in and I could not resist saying "Dont look in the kitchen" "Why what's in there?" "Nothing" "What do you mean nothing?" "Nothing. There is nothing in there" He opened the kitchen door to find ... nothing. No cupboards, sink, washing machine, pots, pans, dishes. tiles plaster.... nothing

I love Dylans songs, well most of them. As for his religious conversion? A man/artist can go where he likes as long as he remains true to himself and his art. The fact is, his gospel album was bad. His autobiography said nothing about his Jewish upbringing even though all his kids were mitzvahed. What does rile me is when people call him a poet. Sorry, but he is not. He is a great songwriter. One of the best 20th-century ones but a poet? no. The scene in "Annie Hall" where Woody Allen's new gf starts quoting "Just like a woman" like it was Keats. Brings it into hilarious perspective

Yes I have heard the same argument put much better from Jordan Peterson. The thing is if they were correct then we would see a correlation between counties with high or low beliefs and crime rates in those countries. A brief look will show that its not the case. In fact many high crime rates come from very religious places. Ethiopia and Rwanda are both nearly top of both tables. Okay that might be due to poverty but the USA has an atheist % of just 4.6% but has one of the highest prison populations in the western world.

No, because men (and all other male mammals) have nipples. Let me explain; I had a right-hand drive Volvo car with the bonnet/hood release on the left-hand side. Genetically, females are the blueprint model and males the specialist ones. So Eve would have come 1st.

Size. If a film is a massive blockbuster then it is no longer a cult film. Similarly, if a small religion takes young people and secludes them away, denying them access to their families until they are totally emersed, devoted and focused on only the ideology. Then it is called a cult. When the catholic church does it, it is called an established religion. I remember my dad (an atheist too) showing me round the places he grew up. He pointed out the corner where once a month young girls would wait for the bus to take them off to a convent. Describing the heartfelt tears from their families that often would never see them again. If that ain't a cult I don't know what is?

America’s Founders Wanted Church And State To Be Separate And So Should You
273kelvin comments on Oct 3, 2019:
To view the constitution on this matter, you have to look at it in context. Most of the founding fathers were of British descent so I will concentrate on the problems that England had with an established religion up to that point. Europe was Catholic until Martin Luther and religious divisions began. Henry viii latched onto the idea to facilitate his divorce and appropriate church funds. That made him de facto pope of England. Monasteries are dissolved, priests, nuns, and monks marry. England is protestant and Catholics are persecuted. After Henry viii and Edward vi, Mary comes along and its all change. Priests, nuns, and monks come out of retirement, leave their spouses and Protestants have to hide now. A reign of terror gives her the name of "Bloody Mary" Then Elizabeth i and all change again. After that James i of Scotland who although Catholic keeps the county stable by outwardly converting and doing what he is told so he can secretly carry on being gay. (the king James bible is commissioned) Not so his son Charles i who wants to push towards Catholicism again. A civil war ensues. Charles is executed and the UK becomes a protestant republic. Life is drear, sport, theatre, and Christmas along with many other things are banned. The monarchy is invited back under Charles ii. All religions are tolerated but Charles has no legitimate heir. His brother James ii is very Catholic but as he has no heir too, so no worries. Then James' wife gets pregnant and the nursery rhyme "Rock-a-by baby" speaks to people's fears. Parliament fires James ii and invites William of orange and Mary over to take the throne. Mary has a dubious claim and William is a fat German with no English but they are not Catholic and that will do. James lands in Ireland from France and he and Billy duke it out in the Battle of the Boyne. James loses and apart from a failed coup by his son in Scotland, the UK is under the protestant Hanoverian rule. Not that life all sweetness and light and many choose a life in the new world to get away from all this madness. By the time we get to George iii (who was actually mad), it is no wonder that the establishment of a state religion would be the very last can of worms that the new USA would want to open. Btw the UK monarch is still de facto pope. His/her prime minister was still in charge of choosing bishops right up until Tony Blair who abdicated the role due to him being a closet Catholic. Converting after he left the office.

I was listening to a radio doc on shipyard workers of the Northeast of England. It seems that back in the day there was not enough time for workers to visit the bathroom. You could be down a hold or keel and it could take a good 20 mins to get to a toilet. As you were also paid on piece work that meant that you went near to job. Not just #1s but #2s as well. So they had a guy whose job it was to clean up the turds. He was also paid "per item" @ 6d or half a shilling, but to increase his wage he would cut the big ones in half. Consequently, he was known as "Half a bob a jobby Bobby".

So if he wants you to watch a video for 20 mins then he has to watch 20 mins of Richard Dawkins or similar. He will soon get tired of quid pro quo or see your side.
Today is my maternal biological grandpas birthday, and I was thinking about him a lot.

A Zen priest and friend of a family was asked to give the family a blessing. This is what he wrote: Grandfather dies Father dies Son dies The family was as you can imagine a little perplexed at this rather macabre blessing and so they asked him to explain. He said "Take a good look at it and its sequence. Grandfather dies. Father dies. Son dies. All in order, there is no tragedy there. Only the natural way things should go"
I can't even count the number of times I've said "Oh my god!" when I actually meant "Holy Shit!"

I am English so it does not apply. Not that we all say things like "Cricky" or "Oh dear how frightfully awful", mostly I would just say "Fuck" or in extremes, "Cunt hooks". My Jewish ex has a good one that is neither blasphemous to the religious or atheist "Shitty death"
Who would have thunk it?????

It would have to be my namesake, Lord Kelvin. Although he was a bit of a religious nut and he never got the hang of nuclear physics. He was the last of the great 19th century scientists. Publishing over 200 papers before the age of 21, some under assumed names in order not to embarrass his tutors. His early work on superconductivity earned his name on the SI unit of temperature. His work on underwater communications (he helped design the 1st trans-Atlantic phone cable) led to my dad who was a radio guy in a submarine in WW2 naming me after him.

I was born in Malta and from what heard the tradition was that if a couple was having trouble conceiving a child? Then the priest would "visit" and hang his umbrella on the door knocker. So the husband would know to stay away till he was done.

At what point are things assumed to be exclusive?
273kelvin comments on Sep 23, 2019:
Here is how it works. I know that this is complex so please pay attention. When you are seeing other people you tell each one of them "I see other people" and when you`re exclusive you say "I am not seeing anyone else"
Good morning all

Where I live borders on Toxteth. People may remember the name from the riots in the 80s. After that, Granby Street and environs really did become a no-go area. The cops stayed away and the dealers moved in. With them came the prostitutes and muggers, it was not a nice place to live. Property prices fell through the floor and Muslims bought in cheap. Some from the Indian sub-continent but quite a few from Somalia. It was they that helped clean up the area. They got rid of the street dealers and hookers (not always by legit means). Okay, it is not the burbs and there is still crime. But it is no way as bad as before. Once a month in summer there is a street market and kids can play there without used needles everywhere. Plus we have one of the best vegetable stores you have ever seen. I was there a few months ago. One of my regular customers, an Asian family. large and hierarchical. Grandma at the top and grandad.. well he spends a lot of time at the local cricket club. Giving kids something else to do in the summer other than just hanging around on mountain bikes.

The kindest thing you can do for him is to tell him that he needs to be more selfish. Now that might seem an odd thing to say but it is not. When I went to a career/ training seminar the lecturer said something very profound. "You have to play to your weaknesses as much as your strengths. For example. if you are a thief and light-fingered? Ffs do not go for a job that puts you in strangers' homes. You will get caught and lose your job or more. If you cant get up in the morning don't become a mailman etc." Tell him that he is not only wasting other people's time but his own as well. As it is quite obvious that he will be crap at the job and make not only theirs but his life worse.

Okay, you have a guy that fancies you, thinks that you look good together and would obviously like to explore things. Yes, he has been a little forward but you`re not 18 anymore. I can understand you being careful but I think that you might be seeing flags that are not there. In which case it is more about you than him.

Famous grammar sins; "To boldly go where no man has been before" - Should read, to go boldly... It is like saying "to quicky run". "To take arms against a sea of troubles" - Is a mixed metaphor. One cannot take arms against a sea, King Canute tried it and was less than successful

We naturally look for reasons behind things. (You only have to look at this site of non-believers to find conspiracy theorists). Let me put it another way: Imagine the scene on the Serengeti. You are foraging for food and you hear a rustle in the long grass. Now it could be just the wind or a lion. Do you run or stay? We are descended from the ones that ran

My ex was from Malawi and told me about an amusing incident that proves that racism is not confined to whites. Robert Mugabe to the tobacco growers of Zimbabwe ; "I must congratulate you on an excellent harvest. This year you have grown 10% more tobacco than last year. This is good for you and this is good for Zimbabwe. Not only will this bring in more much-needed foreign currency into our nation but it will also kill much more white fuckers"
Wow what a night it was.
