@HeathenFarmer My ex and consequently my daughter are Jewish and I have several Jewish friends. It tends to be very polarized. Most that I know support Israel. I once heard a Jewish historian say that a Jew that was not a Zionist was an idiot. Given their history, he has a point. The problem is that for several decades, they have been at war and that promotes a hawkish view. Imagine what the US reaction would be if rockets were regularly being fired into Texas from Mexico. What does not help either is words like "genocide" etc. If you look at the region you will see oppression and atrocities all over. Yet Israel with a population comprised of over 20% Arab all with full citizen rights gets all the stick. FFS a robot has more rights in Saudi that a woman.

Hellbent comments on Jan 8, 2018:
Anybody who tell me what that song means wins a prize. I think it's one of those songs that sound good and are gramatically correct (requisite numbers of verbs and nouns) but are completely devoid of meaning.
273kelvin replies on Jan 8, 2018:
Difficult but let me try; I talk of the abridged version here as it did have over 80 verses LC and later Jeff Buckley paired it down to what we know now. It starts with references to two of the great biblical love stories David - Bathsheba and Samson - Delilah. both involving betrayal. It then continues with some personal insights which we can all get, like "I lived alone before I ever knew yer". and "All I ever learned from love is how to shoot somebody that outdrew yer". As for the chorus LC makes lots of references to imperfections in his works "Forget your perfect offering. There is a crack in everything... That`s how the light gets in" or comically "Even damnation is poisoned with rainbows."Yet however imperfect he states in his distopic song The Future that "love is the only engine of survival". It is that love, because of (not despite of) its human flaws, is what makes it so beautiful. "Its a cold and its a broken hallelujah"
What are your thoughts.

@Bam85 Law abiding citizens like Stephen Paddock? The right to bear arms is a ridiculous concept. At what point does it stop? Should the individual be allowed to own a tank or F15 fighter jet? And if the individual can arm themselves to the max, why not all nations? Yes it is true you have not struck DPRK but you have struck Panama, Grenada, Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan (sorry if I missed any out). To be fair it`s not just the US Russia vs Ukraine, Saudi vs Yemen. All of these conflicts would arguably been a lot different had both sides had nukes. As yourself this, would Kim Jog Un or Ahmadinejad (assuming that they were US citizens) be able to buy a gun in the USA? From what I understand there is no part of the registration process that looks into threats.

Coming from and living in Liverpool, tears rolled down my eyes as I listened this at a festival. It being only a few weeks after the Hillsborough verdict. For those unacquainted with the story, 96 Liverpool fans were crushed to death at a soccer match. Tabloid newspapers (most noticeably the Sun) tried to vilify the supporters themselves, blaming them for the tragedy and printed lies including robbing and urinating on the dead. This led to a campaign not only for justice but also against the Sun newspaper itself. To this day it is almost impossible to buy the most popular UK newspaper (Murdoch owned) in my city. A fact of which I feel rightly proud as it stands a shining example of how people can effect change if we stand together.
