I just walked into my local supermarket and a group of young Muslim men all dressed in tradtional WW1 garments from their batalion in WW1. From the area of Northern India (now Pakistan) their families originally came from. It made me nearly cry. I said to one of the lads, "eee I wish I had my phone to show all them nasty racists your family's sacrifice too". He looked at me and said, "Theres been loads of em love". There were also about 20 young Muslim men in British service personnel uniforms. I am a pacifist and disapprove of the grief porn that appears to surround these events. Except none of these young people asked for a war. They were poor lads (and girls) and there were every race and nationality who fought and died...it was a World War. We need to remember because we must never ever ever send an entire generation off to their deaths again to fight rich men's wars!

I always try to write and spell English correctly. It wasn't until I lived in USA, that I fully understood how different English and American English are. It isn't just words like 'fag' and 'rubber' (oh Jayne!). Spellings are the easiest bits. However, words like 'momentarily' have slightly different meanings in the UK and USA. Consequently, it really doesn't work to complain to another nation about the use of what is essentially another country's language.

This severe cold bug has hit UK too. My colleagues are dropping like flies (me, I carried on regardless, infecting the rest of em ;) ). It took me about 3 weeks to get over it. Nothing you can do, my best medical advice, rest, fluids, paracetamol and look after yourself.

The research I did came from online games originally. This is about 10 years ago and my sons were playing WoW. They told me how you could use real money to 'buy' online money. I was shocked as this went against everything I taught them about being good sportspersons. It was essentially cheating. Then I learned that these 'gold farmers' were often no more than slaves, sometimes chained to desks, made to play games for 20 hours a day. They often were forced to sleep under their desks. Initially these started in China and South Korea.Later I started to hear about the love scams. These had a reputation (along with Nigerian Prince scams) as coming from Nigeria. The stories were virtually always identical. They targetted older, lonely, vulnerable people. At one point they were everywhere. Facebook was rampant, emails, twitter, even LinkedIn. There is an idea that these crimes are perpetuated by individuals but they aren't. They are an industry and take place on an industrial scale. Recently Russia particularly has taken promenance. They are more ruthless, including nationwide scale hacks. The NHS in UK was recently hacked with millions of people's info on it. To be though it is the elderly, the lonely and vulnerable who I am concerned with. These teams will do anything to get you to hand over your savings (easy for me, I have none). I came to this community because I felt here at least there would be a group of people who would be unattractive to scammers due to their inquisitive, intelligent minds. It really worries me to see Scammers here too. I have had messages telling me to f**k off and to stop. I think if we can do anything to thwart their activities we should. Its wrong and very cruel.

He was a kindly man who did a lot for charity and believed he was offering comfort. Some of his readings were scarily accurate. In mental health care we talk about therapeutic lying which is skirting the truth with someone who won't recognise reality, such as someone with dementia. In a way medium's reading are therapeutic lying. However they are lies and can potentially cause damage.

Its clever clogs (plural). Clogs are shoes worn by working people especially up here in the North. 'Sparking clogs' was the term used by people who made sparks from the metal 'cegs' underneath the clogs to stop them wearing out too quickly. I just about remember people wearing them. If you were considered, 'too clever by half', a 'clever clogs' it was a slight criticism, sort of like you were showing off superior intellect in an environment that certainly did not need it (the cotton mills). Of course that was bollocks, it was only because people stood up and were counted that we no longer have 6 year olds working 16 hour days in appalling conditions. I am very very proud of my clever clog ancestors.

I'm British. British people in general don't care. I personally know very few religious people. Most people attend church only on three occasions (hatched, matched, dispatched as they say here). I went to church schools until I was 16 (most junior schools are church led) but it was so low key that I was openly discussing my lack of belief with my teachers who didn't appear to care. My parents were not religious and my grandpa hated religion. The only openly religious people I encounter are Muslim people and a lot of them are moving away from their faith. Hence I'm Jayne and I don't believe in god. No one cares

Firstly it appears to be a UK site but much of the English is American (i.e the word 'vacation' is not generally used in UK), in addition why would anyone stay in London if they are wanting to see Stonehenge? Its miles away. Glasto has tons of hotels. There is no evidence that Stonehenge was ever rebuilt, either by aliens or otherwise. In 1901, the UK was reeling from one war and at the time Stonehenge was in private ownership. There was even talk of dismantling it to create space for new houses. I have studied ancient history of this country for years and early Brits were perfectly capable, over generations, of sailing large Welsh stones to the site, fashion them into monoliths and stand them in place. The simpliest explanation is usually correct.

Thank you all for your replies. I take pleasure in seeing others happy. It hurts me if they hurt. Not even people...animals too. Yesterday I had to stand a student down off the BSc nursing course. As a Nigerian, she will also lose the right to remain in the UK. It was heartbreaking to see her so distraught. She had lied on her initial application and her English was very poor. Still its not nice. My colleague thought it was funny. Then my partner's son decided to let us down at the last minute. My partner hasn't seen him in years and it was a surprise. I wouldn't do that in a million years. I just do not get unkindness. I do not understand people who take pleasure seeing someone hurt, even someone as onerous as President Trump.

I support Palestine, I am not American but spent 22 years of my life married to a Jewish American man. Everyone needs a home and because it is special to all three Abrahamic religions, they all want to live there. The solution is enlightenment but we won't see that in my life time but it will happen, then perhaps fighting over a peace of land will seem pointless. I always find it perculiar that americans say, "substance abuse". Substances can't really be abused, especually if they are used for their intended purpose. We say 'misuse' or simply 'use'. If the substance has no other purpose than to intoxicate the person, then that substance isn't being abused. I see it in student's assignments and it is corrected as a misnomer.

The basic building blocks of life go on forever, I carry their genetics and so do my children. I talk about our ancestors to them often. I tell them about their great grandpa x 5 who played in the Carniege Hall, which for a Brit was HUGE. I know that from a scientific point of view, this particular combination of molecules will end but they will be used again in the future. I really feel strongly about this as vulnerable people are so easily taken in by these scammers. I would suggest that Nigeria may have previously had a reputation for being the scammers of the world, but increasingly now, they appear to be coming from the Russian block.
