Raised in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains as a Southern Baptist preacher's kid. It was not unusual. There were five other p.k. in my elementary school class.

I loved being outdoors while I was growing up and still do. I feel I was very fortunate getting to spend my younger years in and near the mountains where I had many opportunities to learn about nature and humanity.

The more I learn the more I realize how little I know. My mind travels in a constant flux of mix-mashed ideas and hypothesis.

I don't remember writing that last sentence, but it sounds about right.

If your child was 'on the run' & came to you for help, what would you do?
AstralSmoke comments on Dec 9, 2017:
It depends on the severity of the 'crime' and if there actually was one. My daughter could be running from an abusive relationship. Whatever it is, I will give them refugee status. If 'the law' is after them, I would try to talk them into giving themselves up and dealing with their actions. But I'd always do as much as I could to help them.

Crafters: What’s more satisfying?
AstralSmoke comments on Apr 17, 2018:
To me exciting and satisfying aren't equivalents. I'm excited when I come up with a new idea and begin working on it. I'm satisfied (I hope) when I've finished it. Anyway, on to the next excitement!
We may not know the purpose at the time but it will resinate after the fact.

AstralSmoke comments on Apr 21, 2018:
Yes, it's important for me to feel I am benefiting humanity rather than taking advantage. And no, I don't think it makes much of a difference. I simply cannot help myself.
In your opinion what is the most likely thing that could halt human progress?
AstralSmoke comments on Apr 21, 2018:
It depends on what is penned 'human progress'. If it means continuing on our nonsustainable path, we will doom ourselves. Arrogance?
It's things like this that draw people together. What draws you closer to someone?

Took my neighbor crabbing yesterday.
AstralSmoke comments on Apr 26, 2018:
I've only been crabbing a couple of times, when I was a kid. We went to small island off the coast of S Carolina. Crabbing was super easy. Tie some meat on a string, throw it in, and wammy, crabs. Preparation was the hard part and my mom took care of that. Time's change.

A biologist theologian! Is that an oxymoron or a contradiction in terms?
AstralSmoke comments on May 3, 2018:
I don't think so. A biologist can believe in a omnipotent god. The god is responsible for everything. Biology is just a good way to get a little better understanding of how god works. Works well into current day theology.

AstralSmoke comments on May 14, 2018:
I think the article takes a good look at both sides of the results from Briggs-Myers. The last time I took it I came up with INFP. I even bought a book about my 'type'. The reading was interesting, but it did come across to me as a horoscope read. Nothing solid, just a little 'breezy'.
