I was raised Roman Catholic, but by late high school had begun to wonder about the nature of the human soul. This led to the examination of God concepts and by my mid-twenties I considered myself an agnostic. After reading George H. Smith’s Atheism: the Case Against God I considered myself an atheist and have ever since. Over the years I met other like-minded people, learned about humanist organizations, and wrote letters to the editor back in the days before social media. I have been a non-believer since the age of 20 or so and have called myself an atheist since I was 25.
