I've been an atheist since the ripe ol' age of seven. I remember it clearly still. It was a rainy afternoon and I really wanted to go outside and play so I prayed that it would stop raining. When the rain didn't stop it was almost like a cog fell into place in my mind. At that moment the thought occurred to me that perhaps God isn't real. From that day forward I questioned everything, searched for logic and answers, and I observed the world and the people around me. I had reached the age of reason (paraphrasing George Carlin). I grew up in a religious home with crucifixes on the walls and bibles on the end tables, though rarely, if ever, going to church.
