A great welcome to all of you fine people joining this new group and thanks to Frayedbear for taking time to create it. Here in Portugal we are in our fourth week of self isolation and the pandemic is still rampant but being contained, mostly by a great public spirit of solidarity and adherence to government advice which was swift and decisive. If I can give any advice it would be: Stay cool, be as happy as you possibly can, try to keep the spirits of those around you up and don't ever lose your sense of humour, however grim things become! Stay safe all.

Personally, I would like to see members posting searching and informative material as I am no black belt, maybe brown belt, and that's probably self flattering! :-)

Re. Covid-19 Are we still in the calm before the storm or are we in the storm?
Austin-Cambridge comments on Mar 24, 2020:
It took 200 years for the population to Europe to recover to former numbers following the Black Death pandemic! A sobering thought for those playing on the beach or gathering in great numbers. With mass media and social networking one would imagine people would see how important their personal roll is in avoiding the same fate! To know history is to know the future unfortunately.

Austin-Cambridge comments on Mar 21, 2020:

RichieO has provided a wealth of text and video to help those who wish to enlighten themselves, It has had a big impact on my own grasp of CT! :-) good luck, It's quite the journey.

Austin-Cambridge comments on Mar 10, 2020:
The Irish way of thinking is not just critically but completely outside the box. One thing I noticed was that drivers tend to drive in the middle of the road and simply move over when they meet another car coming their way, ever had your car scratched by spiked bushes at the roadside? Another thing was, in the high street, the only shops that neglected to have a bar were a pharmacy and a tailors shop, how convenient is that for the thirsty! This one will kill you, I was picked up at Dublin airport by a business client who drove me to his office by the Liffey, he drove through a busy intersection with a red light, I asked, did you see the light was red John, he calmly replied "they are just for the visitors" :-D

Gerrymandering has been practiced in the UK for many, many years, it is rascally rigging voting results but has not led to the downfall of democracy.
