@redhog Lee and most of the other early generals in the Civil War spent time at West Point and took the same oath as everyone else to defend the Constitution. They chose to go to war against the government they had sworn to uphold, making them traitors. I'm sorry, but that negates being called a Patriot just as much as any military officer who participate in a government coup in any other country. The mob that attacked the Capitol Wednesday, regardless of previous service or civil occupations are not Patriots, they are seditionists trying to overthrow the legally elected government.

@barjoe we have a good variety of convenience stores. It used to be, I heard, a gentleman’s agreement that stores would dominate an area. In Lancaster we had Turkey Hill and Penn Supreme stores, York was dominated by Rutters. Sheetz was mostly to the north of Rt. 22. And everything east of Lancaster was Wawa. Royal Farm didn’t venture north of the Maryland line. 7-11 were scattered around, I think we had two that I know of in Lancaster County. In the past ten to twenty years that agreement disappeared, along with Penn Supreme, Getty, and A+, which were gasoline company owned. Now we have all of them, with more everyday. That was a good thing, because it forced Turkey Hill to upgrade their crummy little shops to compete against the much bigger and better Sheetz and Wawa stores. Royal Frams have just started opening up in the past five years or so.

There are no laws in the Constitution that single out individual states that I know of. Any one else? The no standing refusal to hear is not new, and Thomas did not sign on the last time either. Two states sued Colorado in 2018 when they voted to legalize marijuana (I believe it was Oklahoma and Nebraska). I wish I could be as confident as some that the military won't be as split as the general population when the time comes to take sides. If nothing else, we learned at the start of the Civil War that taking an oath and defending your country can not overcome loyalty to faith and family. All the top military leaders at the time had take an oath the same as they do now. If it gets totally out of hand, I would expect the military to split in a very similar fashion to the general population. Thankfully, I would hope most would side to keep the country whole and defend the winner of the popular vote. But I would not expect all of them to. Timothy McVey was in the military and he did not mind blowing up little kids to prove a point.
