I do not know that atheism is a different "lifestyle, but in the sense that an atheist would not be involved in local church activities, maybe she has something there. From my perspective, the most important thing is to allow yourself to be comfortable with your perspective on religion, and value yourself as the unique human you are. You do not have to, ought not feel forced to, justify your point of view to others, but certainly can discuss it with people who are not out to "save" you.
