Budgie comments on Oct 31, 2020:
First heard them when everyone was sharing their cover of Sounds of Silence (which they absolutely nailed) he has a great voice. This song had me in tears so many memories. The late great Sir Pterry also said either that no man truly dies until all of the ripples he has made die or until people stop speaking his name. Or both I get my quotes mixed up.

Budgie comments on Oct 30, 2020:
This is their way of dealing with the grief. It is a lie but they clutch it because they can not deal with the reality. I bumped into a friend who had just lost her mother (aged 98) she had cancer and was in considerable pain my friend is deeply catholic but all we talked about was how she was now out of pain and no longer suffering. I offered my sympathies for her loss and gave her a hug. (these days hugs are pretty important and that given we are told to socially distance) her mother died a few days before her 99th birthday. It is a different circumstances to losing a healthy young male to a disease but I know she will be praying for her mother and there will be a big church funeral. They will comfort themselves with the belief she is now in heaven with god. Personally if there is a god it is a right royal bastard taking useful people and leaving behind the deadweights and nasty incompetent ones. A friend and I were talking last night and I said if I god exist then when I face him I would give him the finger tell him I have already been to hell and he can piss off.
Obviously forgot to say "Beam me up Scotty".

Budgie comments on Oct 26, 2020:
Hugs, great big body encompassing hugs. So much emotion can be put into a hug and it can be very grounding for the person who is suffering. As others have said tell them you are sorry for their loss, look for ways to offer to do things for them, babysitting, preparing food, cleaning, driving them places, feeding/walking pets. Many times people are not even sure of what they need make suggestions to them of what you can do to help. Let them know you are there and ready to listen. It is a horrible time for your family.
I had in interesting session with my therapist.
Budgie comments on Oct 26, 2020:
I agree with everyone else who says you should charge her not pay her. This thought that you have to believe in something to cope with life is disturbing to me. What if my belief hurts others? Also atheist get told we cherry pick the bible for the worst quotes but it is okay for someone who believes in it to cherry pick only the bits they want to believe? Good luck but I would try to find a different therapist.

Budgie comments on Oct 19, 2020:
As a teacher these ones really annoy me. Either it is making teachers look stupid or there really is an early childhood teacher who was too stupid to ask the child what the drawing was about which is essentially young child drawing 101 always freaking ask the kid what they have drawn in which case they need to stop teaching now and go do a job that does not require thinking overly much.
A joke that sounds real!...
Budgie comments on Oct 19, 2020:
There was a joke that there was a new pensioner retirement plan it consisted of a gun and two bullets. They take the gun and shot a politician (the two bullets are in case the first missed). Then they would be arrested and sent to jail where they would get three meals a day, all of their laundry done for them, 24/7 monitoring and bed checks, free dental and healthcare. Better than a retirement home and they get rid of a politician so wins all round.

Budgie comments on Oct 16, 2020:
Adelaide River Northern Territory. I have met Brutus. I am pretty sure he was the one following the boat when we went on the trip with some friends. He was stalking at the back of the boat where we were sitting. I could feel the hair on the back of my neck prickling. The boat does trips up the river and dangles some pork chops to attract the big boys to jump up (it is called the Jumping Crocodile tour). There is only a certain section of the river they are allowed to do this in and the crocs know it. When you cross the marker on the shore the crocs head out to the boat, when you cross back over they swim away. The river is absolutely full of crocs and under no circumstances should you enter the water. There is a bridge over it and it was damaged during some floods so had to be repaired. One man had the job of sitting in a dinghy under the bridge idling in case someone fell in. Weeks go by and all he has is a suntan. Then one day someone fell into the water. Shocked the boat guy so much he gunned the motor and flooded it. While he is frantically trying to get it started the bloke is floating in the water, ( apparently trying to send out the mental image that he was a log) when the guy got him out of the water the air turned a unique shade of blue as this guy let rip with all of the fear and anger he had been controlling while floating in the water.
Thank god there is no hell!
