BufftonBeotch comments on Sep 24, 2018:
I have long wanted to see Machu Picchu, but I think too many others also do and it is fairly crowded now. Maybe one of the lesser known ancient sites. One of rivers would also be fascinating. The River of Doubt recounts Theodore Roosevelt's and others expedition of one. It is very well told and at times harrowing. I would of course want to be well equipped for such a journey and have the best guides. And some of the animals I might encounter make me cringe and slightly terrified. Especially piranha...shudder. But there are Pink river dolphins. Pink. River Dolphins.

Would you pay someone to date you?
BufftonBeotch comments on Sep 12, 2018:
I would not. I don't believe the guy should cover all the expense, though. So, either I pay for my own meal or we start swapping turns picking up the entire check. One pays the movie tickets another buys the popcorn/drinks. (This also saves time getting into he theater.) My biggest hang up about dating is the Atheist aspect of it since nearly all candidates would be religious to a varying degree and all the mess that generally leads to. The last guy I was casually hanging with and we both got along and enjoyed the same type of activities betrayed me by telling several people I was an Atheist before I even met them. This included his parents. This, I found out when I went to funeral, in solidarity, for a friend of his who had been killed in a bike/car hit and run. I was getting stink eye you would not believe, and his mother and father refused to shake my hand or even acknowledge me. Also he turned out to be a raging racist. And cruel to his dog when he was drunk. (the guy-not the dog) So mourning the loss of that relationship was very short.

While in your teens did you see your current age as old?
BufftonBeotch comments on Sep 11, 2018:
People seemed to act much older then at a younger age. Women in their late forties and early fifties were wearing those snap-front house coats and ugly shoes. Men were buttoning their pants at chest level and showing white socks with black shoes. People are active and engaged with life and wearing jeans often to the end of a long life. Steven Tyler is 70. If a 70 year old like that existed when I was in HS I did not know about it.
Where were you on 9/11?
BufftonBeotch comments on Sep 11, 2018:
I was listening to the radio in my car as I went to meet somebody to give them some t-shits for publicity/fund drive for a project I was involved with in Savannah. News of the first plane hitting was just being announced on the radio and the AM jocks were speculating on it. But contrary to some urban legends there was no footage of the first plane hitting live or even that day. The first plane hitting the tower was not known about until at days later because a film crew happened to capture it. It was when so many eyes and cameras were on the towers a few minutes later that everyone's heart nearly stopped. Until that moment there was still the chance that it was a terrible, inexplicable accident.

BufftonBeotch comments on Sep 9, 2018:
A child raised to think for themselves is generally not going to be religious. My children were exposed to every religion I knew of. If they would have chosen one it would have been their choice. Forcing Atheism on a child is just as offensive as forcing religion.
Correlation between success of relationships/friendships and region you're from?
BufftonBeotch comments on Sep 9, 2018:
OK. pause It is not really a region thing as far as racism goes. At least not anymore. I see more racism when I go back up north (Ohio/PA/WV) than I do down here in the Georgia/SC I have lived in and loved since 1985. The bulk, heavy side of my life. And maybe because I live in a coastal area now with tourism and everything. However. I also have lived inland. Where the onions grow Where the peaches grow. I have seen Hispanic men physically locked in a cage in the back of a pickup truck.

Raising children with/without religion
BufftonBeotch comments on Sep 3, 2018:
I raised my children to not be religious but they were exposed to many religions. They played Nintendo with Buddhist monks when said monks were visiting to make a sand mandala. They the local rabbi's hobby was puppetry including having one that looked like him. They knew the local Imams and helped raise funds when someone firebombed one of the mosques. They learned that you stand on the first sung word of the "African American National Anthem" Exposure to and respecting all religion is, perhaps, an inoculation shot against all the bullshit. If ou take your kids to a Unitarian Universalist church they are very good at religious education and very many Atheists (hard to explain,). Also comprehensive age appropriate sex education. O.W.L. for Our Whole Lives.. On Edit - Those particular monks took their tea with unsalted butter. It approached the fat content of the yaks milk they were accustomed to.
