I always did too, except now they are REALLY old if they are that much older than I am currently. I think now that I actually more preferred men of a certain age--in their 30s before, but now 40s is better. Mature but not even close to elderly.

We have the exact same gift & stocking tradition! I do enjoy it, as do the kids. The little wait before opening gifts is good for them. Many years ago we began a tradition of having each person open one gift at a time so the others can see what they got & the giver can be properly thanked. It makes it all last longer & avoids the frenzy of paper being ripped off & often the gift barely looked at before being set aside to grab another & another.

The first thing popped into my mind was frostbite even before reading the entire article. We use our fingers and thumbs to pick things up and the fingers are really more exposed to frostbite because they hold onto objects longer than the thumbs.

On the contrary, many gays really try not to be gay by marrying women & having children--using other innocent human beings as disguises essentially. Hard to say if the suffer more than the wife & kids, but it certainly can't be fun for them. Particularly in the past, many gays & lesbians went through at least a stage of wishing they could choose to be straight--& they couldn't. So no, I do not believe it's a choice anymore than we have chosen to be straight--& I come from an area with a very high population of gays & lesbians.

People don't really consider how much skill this kind of worker needs to have, or that they are driving all the way to your house & back. They're probably having the IRS take about a third of their earnings (as they did mine when I was legally self employed & Reagan doubled the self employment tax) They need to buy many expensive tools to be able to work, & supplies like spackling & screws of all sizes. What about the time he had to spend buying the supplies, like the hinge that was just right for the dresser? He also probably has to buy his own health insurance. Probably only $250 left of the $500 by my estimate.
