Interesting because someone just did a poll here & it seems that most of us on Agnostic are on the old side. One institution that does seem to be dying are the Catholic nuns. When I had to go to Catholic school in the 70s, all but 2 or 3 teachers were nuns. My friends sent their son to Catholic school several years ago & there were no nuns teaching at all. My friends were even surprised that I asked. Same with my nieces back in the late 90s. No nuns at all.

But the Catholic church apparently gives very little guidance to future priests on HOW to be celibate, & doesn't address sexuality at all. So, the writer's belief was that the priesthood actually attracts pedophiles & then, not surprisingly, these guys don't find that celibacy "cures" them & that the priesthood is a good cover for them to use while preying on children. It made lots of sense to me but who knows....

I lived in western Europe in the 1960s & noticed especially, but not only, the older ladies had hairy legs even when quite dressed up, & also some very bushy armpits--quite different from the US. It never seemed to be acceptable in the US & has gotten even sillier, where women are expected to look prepubescent apparently. I begrudgingly shaved until I moved to a rather bohemian area of California. Now I'm suddenly in Mississippi & wondering when/if someone is going to comment on my unshaved armpits even though they have very little hair naturally. Legs don't matter so much as I never show them. Shaving is a nuisance & sometimes gives me red bumps, which look far worse than hair.

I've done both. Cloth advantages are that it's cheaper, more environmentally friendly, & makes toilet training easier because they feel wet when they are wet. Diaper services are the way to go if your area has one, but with today's washing machines & detergents laundering them isn't the ordeal it used to be years ago. Also, my daughter got terrible rashes when we kept her in disposables on a vacation. She was OK with having one on per day but no more than that. Disposables are handy in many situations & we always kept some on hand. By the time I had my twins the diaper service had shut down. I sewed enough diapers for them while I was pregnant but ended up too overwhelmed to use them, & the twins did fine in disposables. They also toilet trained much later...

In Las Vegas New Mexico this is about as low as I have seen gas in some time.
