Hello fellow gardeners, I promised my youngest son he could help in the garden this year.

I like perennials . This year , I put in asparagus . Have to keep breaking off the spears this year , but once it's established , it will provide vegetables every summer . It's a relatively expensive vegetable , so if you like it , it;s a good mini investment .

Does someone have to be college educated to be intelligent?
Cast1es comments on Apr 4, 2018:
Your fourth sentence nailed it .When Mensa and Intertel were first being established , one of the first things they attempted to learn was , what do these people who scored higher on the tests , all have in common ? It wasn't higher education , although , a greater number of intelligent people do have a higher education than the general population . It was that they are voracious readers . The more you read, the more you learn .
What would you do if the end was near?
Cast1es comments on Apr 4, 2018:
There have been several times over the past two decades (remember , for instance the end of 1999 , the world will end at 2000 ?) when we were told someone had strongly advised us that the world was about to end ? We didn't do much of anything , because we didn't believe it . When we have been told a huge asteroid was coming to earth , we decided one of three things would happen . 1. It would sail past earth , with no harm done . 2. It would burn up in our atmosphere . 3. It would likely land in the Pacific Ocean , Antartic , the Artic , Siberia , or some other unpopulated area .

Incest: Immoral or Moral?

I also read a LOT of other odd books , particularly fiction . Doesn't mean I believe all I read .

Should women still act like women and men like men?
Cast1es comments on Mar 31, 2018:
In the past , women had little choice , in getting with the man she wanted . Yes she could flirt , if given the opportunity , but , it wasn't lady like to approach a man . Basically , she was left with only the accept or reject portion of a relationship , and even today , a man who is rejected , may feel he was shamed and depending to a large extent on his culture , may feel he has the right to punish or even kill a woman for rejecting him . In some cultures , the parents still arrange marriages , and the couple may not even meet the intended until just before the wedding . Hopefully , the parents will have what is best for the intendeds in mind , but unfortunately , it may have more to do with finances , or how the parents will profit , rather than if the intendeds are compatible . Today , in this country , more women are able to make their own choices , and can readily approach a man she may have an interest in . That doesn't mean she's going to get what she truly wants in a relationship . Men frequently turn down a woman , because he feels she's too aggressive , or he may think she's only interested only in a sexual encounter , and sometimes that is exactly what she wants .
If I had it all to do again, I doubt very much I would meet my husband.

How do you know what they wrote in the bible, koran and the bagavate gita is all true ?
Cast1es comments on Mar 30, 2018:
Men wrote the books that went into the Bible . Other men chose which books would be put into the Bible , and which would be left out . The Old Testament of the Jewish Torah , does not match the Old Testament of the Christian Bible . Translations of the Bible into today's languages , have changed the meanings from what they originally meant . The Red Sea scrolls , ancient Biblical texts , found , I believe in the early 1940's and translated , still have not been included in the Bible . Although there most likely are at least some historical facts covered by the Bible , there are some contradictions in the Bible . For instance , in the Old Testament there are places stating Moses went up on the mountain and saw God , yet in the New Testament , Jesus says , "For no man has seen God ." To this day , the Bible is used as a way to control people , by people who don't believe it themselves .

Question: What do you do if your electric car runs out of electric?
Cast1es comments on Mar 28, 2018:
They're called batteries , can be recharged either by an extension cord and an outlet , or even through solar panels , or you can get a jump from another car , if the alternator is still working , and the battery can be recharged .

Match %
Cast1es comments on Mar 28, 2018:
I've also noticed , the % bit does not seem to include distance . Additionally , while I believe the % only refers to how close the other is to what I'm looking for , I don't believe it includes what the % of how well I match what he is looking for . In other words , they may believe , in my book , I would view him as being an 81% , but he may view me as being 2% of what would interest him .
What are your pet peeves about photos on dating sites?
Cast1es comments on Mar 28, 2018:
Love the answers I've read here ! I have friends who post nearly daily photos of themselves , so understand the term selfies . I don't . The one I posted , was taken at an event I attended a year ago , by a very nice lady , who noticed I was examining the background ( loved it ) . She showed me a box of accouterments , and asked for my phone , which I didn't have with me . I tried to look fierce . She snapped the photo and forwarded it to my phone . I like the idea of including something you're interested in , in the photo . It says something more about your interests .

Can you have too many books?
Cast1es comments on Mar 28, 2018:
When I purchased my retirement home , my ,"little ," brother , phoned our Mom and told her , to tell me to get rid of my books . Mom can read a hard back in a day , and where she lived , they sent a library truck weekly to drop off her stack of books for the week . I told Mom , the new-to-me house I'd just bought , came with a library . We laughed . I have an additional three book cases , and a large portion of the shelves in the library are double stacked . I've read all except those in a foreign language , at least once , and sometimes more often . The nice thing about growing older is , memory fades , and I can reread a book without knowing how it's going to end . Had a man once tell me , that keeping books , was like owning a trophy case . My response was , it's more like a room full of friends , I can reread them when I can't get around , or loose power , I can share special ones with other friends , if you stack them on outside walls , they provide insulation for a cold room , they're decorative , they improve your mind , expand your knowledge , and in a dire emergency , if you loose heat during a horrible winter storm , and you're really , really desperate , you can maybe , put your least favorite in the fireplace .

Men approach the made up woman first and frequently , because their eyes pick up on the makeup . The , "mouse ," who may look just as good , if made up , doesn't get a second glance . Most certainly they've made many movies about the ugly ducklings , but in human terms , the movies routinely , take off the glasses , fluff out the hair with lots of hair spray , pile on the makeup , and change her outfit to something gorgeous and sexy , which wouldn't be appropriate in any of her normal activities .

First of all , if only 10% of the populatioin remains , anyone who can create an immune based medical solution , is also a member of the immune community , so that would be redundant . I think , keeping in mind the problems that occurred during the plague years , and today's technology , and my skills , I would locate some major earth moving equipment , dig a huge hole , collect corpses and bury them , to prevent other major diseases from spreading on top of the original problem . Next , since that will become a very fertile area , I'd spread a lot of whatever remains in the fresh foods section of the local grocery stores - fruits , vegetables , nuts over that surface , with dirt . Then whatever plants and seeds are available from local department and hardware stores over that surface along with alternating layers of potting soil and top soil . then water it down . I could paint a sign . and call it the Garden of Eatin' .

Cast1es comments on Mar 21, 2018:
Paying for a woman , on a date , is not about chivarly . Paying for a woman is showing her that you will make a good mate , because , as a part of child bearing and raising , she will be required to depend on her mate for support . She needs to know if you will be generous towards her and your child , or if , for instance , instead of supporting her and the infant , when she is most vunerable , and unable to support herself and the infant , you are going to take the money and run .

Goes back to the money . We aren't given access to cures , because there's more profit in keeping us sick . Insurance companies lost money because we weren't getting cured , just strung along , so rates went up and services became more limited . Companies investing money in developing new drugs , are then told to spend more money in doing tests to prove they're safe to use , cover up problem areas they don't want to acknowledge , because they want the profit , even if the drugs aren't safe . Can't trust the doctors because the drug companies funnel money into their educational expenses , pay them kick backs , and send representatives to fill them in on the latest company drug offerings .

That seems to be a common concept for this group . We qualify , we may or may not join them , then we dropout out . I liked the concept that , after all the insults we get for being smart , it was nice to be with others , of a like mind , where we weren't getting cut down for being intelligent . I enjoyed the guest speakers at the monthly meetings , and enjoyed the comfortable company I was with , but ..... I found other things more interesting . I learned , as well , that Mensa and Intertel were often combined events . I suspect that Triple Nine events would also have been combined , as there would have been even fewer attendees to populate them . Where we are going with this group , is up to those who choose to join it . As with other groups , it's interesting to learn about other things we have in common , and how we deal with them . I find I identify with the Big Bang show , in some respects , and can laugh at my self , now . Slightly out of step , with the rest of the world . Never fitting in . But I do believe that water seeks it's own level . A twelve year old , can spend time playing with a younger sibling , but still needs to spend time with others their own age . We can work , live , enjoy time with others , but sometimes , we just need to be involved with others of a similar level .

One of the azelias just finished blooming it's little heart out . The other is getting transplanted to a new planter , because the old one split open . There's an obnixoius weed , I call velcro , that has just been blooming with lovely pink bloosoms . The ferns are unfurling , The vincea is looking good . We've put fertilizer out for the oleanders and crepe myrtels . I havne't killed the grape vine I planted , yet . I put in asparagras , just over a week ago , and I just noticed a 6" feathery sprout . I'll need to break them off this year , but should have some for eating next year . The mint is looking vibrent , and smells great ! I've been trying to learn about it , and I feel I have a long way to go yet , to understand it . That said , historically speaking most international currencies were , established by one family , the Rothchilds . Initially , US currency was backed by gold , held in places like Knoxville , Tenn . Later , that was switched to silver . Now US currency is simply a matter of faith in the monitary system . When a country defaults , their money looses value . It used to be , US currency was valid for most international purchases . That is switching to Chinese currency . Crypto currency , supposedly will maintain it's value , because it's an international currency . Countries won't be able to just print more money , to pay off national debts . You won't be losing money in international money exchanges . If , for instance , I fly to England and convert my US dollars to British pounds , I need to pay a fee , for that service . If I have some pounds I wish to convert back to US dollars , again I have to pay a fee for that service . In small amounts , it doesn't mean much . When you are buying or selling commercial amounts of trade goods , it gets very expensive , and attacks your profits .

I suspect , as older siblings , the parents are more closely following , " the rules ," the first time around . Suceeding children , have less exclusive parental time , due to not being the only child , and the parents relax the rules , they held the oldest to . Most certainly , the older children are given some responsibility for the care of the younger children , but without any of the control methods , the parents are allowed to use . I recall , when I graduated from high school , a friend suggested that the two of us take a day trip to the ocean . I was not allowed to go . When my brother was in high school , our parents had moved to an island . He was given his own motor bike , money for gas and cigaretts , and often spent the night on the beach , encouraged by our father to , " find girls ," . End result , he failed his senior year , and had to take it over again .
I was about to join this group, but I see that the mods tagged it with KKK.
Cast1es comments on Mar 17, 2018:
There are three high IQ groups that I am aware of , although I do believe there are more . Mensa requires that you score in the top 2% (2/100) or higher on a standardized IQ test , such as the ACT or SAT tests that you take as you are graduating high school , in order to get admitted to college . Intertel requires that you earn a score in the top 1% (1/100) . There is a third group that requires you score at the top on the thousand level ( 1/1000 ) . I wasn't that smart . so have only heard of it . K=1000 . I don't know why they chose to use KKK , but this has absolutely nothing to do with the Klu Klux Klan . Perhaps Triple K would make more sense and be less confusing . Perhaps someone here , knows more about that one than I do . I took the time to do a little research , and found , " Triple 9 ," a group based on the 1/1000 test results . That most certainly makes more sense that KKK . I don't know if I was in error , or if , like you , they were't happy with the connection , and made a change to the name .

Hi! I was tested at 140 IQ at 15 years old but I never joined MENSA, although siblings and I loved ...

Welcome to the club ! Congratulations on your high score ! . And yes , I find high IQ does tend to run in families , especially if it's the Mom . When a Mom loves reading , she sees to it that the kids have books . When I was in fifth grade , they gave all fifth graders , the same generic test . Computers had been developed to the point where they were able to have all the tests, nation wide , compare the results , for all of us . That's the first time I was told I was above average , but they didn't tell me more than that . I took an ACT test when I was graduating high school , and upon graduation , I received an invitation from Mensa . I knew nothing about them at the time , and had no transportation , to attend any meetings . About ten years later I did try to attend , but by then , had lost the original paperwork , so took the test they offered . I was 143 .
Good morning, sleepy heads.

Would you date and/or have a relationship with someone who is an introvert?
Cast1es comments on Mar 15, 2018:
I'm a born and raised introvert , and my career encouraged it . I've been working at becoming more out going , but find it's difficult to make friends , even with my immediate neighbors , even when Im working at it . Two introverts on a date , would be a very quiet event . Neither of us , could easily carry a conversation .
What makes you unique?

Steven Hawkins said we contain stardust . Read a post on Facebook , which stated those with DNA blood type B- , are decendented from Aliens . My brother and I are both B- .

What makes a person "intelligent?"
Cast1es comments on Mar 13, 2018:
We live in different environments . I think a person is intelligent if they can succeessfully navigate the environment they're in , or perhaps move to an environment where they can be more sucessful . A fish doesn't need a bicycle , as they say . The IQ tests are based largly on , " book learning , " which can be very useful and can help a person succeed in higher level environments , where they can get higher paying careers - programmers , computer experts , lawyers , doctors , actors , etc. Lower paying jobs , waitresses , garbage collectors , are physically demanding , yet repiticious and don't require a higher education . Some jobs , can begin as lower paying jobs , and you can advance to better paying jobs , by acquiring a higher education , which , in general , requires reading .

How reliable is the study of history?
Cast1es comments on Mar 12, 2018:
Remember , "The , " winners ," write history ." And sometimes , if the losers were rich enough , they write history and suddenly become the winners , even though they lost .

IT didn't make you picky . You are wise . You made a wise choice , about a difficult decision .
Board games to recommend?
Cast1es comments on Mar 11, 2018:
I spent yesterday afternoon , playing D & D at a local gaming store . It's an open game , so wile some of the players are the same each week , there are always players I haven't played with before . At the end of this game , as I was heading out to go home , I ran into a problem , in that some idiot had parked on the ramp I needed to get my scooter down from the sidewalk to the level of the parking spaces . One of the players was kind enough to get my scooter down without the ramp .
Any sword & sorcery reading fans out there who haven't read Terry Brooks should give him a try.
