At the beginning of the pandemic , I began taking Elderberry syrup . I'd read that it helped to prevent the virus from entering the blood cells , but didn't know why . I had seen a black and white movie many , many years ago , where a couple of little old ladies made elderberry wine and drank it every fall to avoid getting sick . Now it makes sense . Elderberry is high in sunshine vitamin D ! Listen to your herboligists .

So much of what I read as SciFI , as a teen , has actually come true since then . I remember Mom had taken me shopping for school clothes , when we heard about the Russian Sputnic , which caught Kennedy's attention , so he set up the Space program and we sent a man to the moon . Now there's an international space station , there are self driving cars and trucks on the road , the vast majority of homes have at least one computer . There are house hold units that reply to instructions and make changes to things that are controlled electronically . There's a little robot that roams around the house , to vacuum , all by itself .And we even have worldwide pandemics .

My Dad placed an order for a son . I wasn't that . A year and a half after my birth , Mom gave him the son he wanted . There were definite differences , not age related , in what was acceptable and what wasn't , for each of us . A restrant near my Mother's place had parrots in an enclosed corridor at the entrance to their dining area . People would have a lovely meal , often with drinks and unfortunately there was a minor tripping hazard near the parrots' perch , The parrots heard the drunken dinners as they tripped when leaving the resturant and learned their comments . The birds had to be removed .

That really scary time when the elevator got off its' leash and ran amok..... .

Completely gave up dating , long before the pandemic ever began . Way too much effort , for way too little return . I hate being lied to or intentionally mislead . I have no desire to be around someone , who needs to reduce me to his level , so he can feel good about himself . There is absolutely nothing attractive about a man who intentionally starts idiotic arguments , just so he can have a fake excuse , to beat me up . I've always been self supporting , so can't be , "bought ." Don't like having my possessions destroyed , because he repeatedly has , "accidents ," around things I bought for myself . I feel more attention/affection from my pets , than from the previous men in my life . Well , all but one , a rare gem I never expect to match again . I like living in a quiet home . Hiring professionals is a lot cheaper than being married and still having to hire professionals , because he isn't willing to handle any chores . I don't have to deal with his bad habits - smoking , drinking , illegal drugs , theft , gambling , or his Mom / other family members . Just like religion , the important thing is to recognize , when you have a good life , and to not bring unwanted problems and discord into it , by looking for a non-existent , perfect other being , to try to make it heaven .

But everyone had to enjoy spring break and party hardy , hold huge weddings , go to their favorite concerts , hang out and get drunk in their favorite bars , attend enormous church services , and now , yes , go to huge funerals . I got my daughters Tonka trucks , as well as dolls , and taught them how to use basic home owner tools as well as the washing machines and vacuums , just as my parents did . They've found both sets useful , as adults . My oldest , works as a mail carrier , and volunteers as an EMT ambulance driver . I've raised strong women . I suffer from sleep apnea and have for over thirty years . My doctors told me there were three surgeries that could help , and since they don't know which one would work , they start by doing the easiest . As a small child , less than six , although I don't know my age at the time , apparently , I was sick frequently , so my parents had my tonsils and adenoids removed . I remembered the surgeon at the time , told my mother , I'd never have to worry about snoring after that . Boy was he wrong ! As an adult , I snored so badly , I'd wake myself up . I went to see a specialist and they removed my soft pallet , which includes that dangley bit at the back of my throat . That seemed to stop , or at least reduce the snoring . The final option , which I have not had done , yet , is , I was told , I have a deviated septum . At one point , a doctor tried to feed a tiny camera into my nose and down my throat . He checked both sides of my nose , chose the larger of the two , and still had difficulty feeding the camera in . Guess the inside isn't proportionate to the size of the outside . That said , I have tried using a CPAP . For me , that only makes things worse , not to mention , it calls to mind wearing an elephant costume to sleep in .

Saw this years ago . Wonder if she's still alive ? If you look hard enough , you can always find an excuse for any bad behavior . Lots of serial killers grew up in homes , ruled by drunken adults . Lots of raped women's lives were permanently changed , when someone got drunk and created a bad situation . Lots of people lost their homes , their cars , and their jobs , because they were addicted to their booze . Actually , had a chat with a pair of bums day before yesterday . Each of them was drinking beer from a liter bottle , and as soon as the bottles they were working their way through were empty , they opened another liter bottle of beer , each . They were both sitting on the concrete at a small strip mall , adjacent to the short driveway leading to Walmart , stopping shoppers , begging for money , to buy more booze and tokes . Isn't that funny ? One of them told me awhile back , he's getting social security checks and he's retired from the Marine Corp , so also gets a military retirement check . Of course he also told me , he was incarcerated by the time he reached nineteen . He's 72 , now . Yeah , that's real funny !

However , at the push of a button , the rear door slides open , a ramp slides out , I ride my scooter into the van , slide under the seat belts and a clamp locks the scooter in place , behind the steering wheel . I push a button , the ramp retracts and the rear door slides closed . I push another button and the garage door opens , I pull forward , and by pushing the button again , the garage door closes behind me . I learned to drive on a stick shift without power brakes . Apparently , they are no longer teaching grammar , spelling , punctuation , or manners , much less cursive in schools these days . While I can understand how these would be difficult for those not born into an English speaking country , I would have thought those who grew up in English speaking countries , would have learned it easily . When a sentence starts out , " Me and my husband ," I wonder which State allows marriage at the second grade level . You wouldn't say , "Me went to TRF ." So what makes adding a second person change the pronoun . And if there are two of you , it's proper to mention the other person first = "My husband and I ." So it should read , "My husband and I went to TRF ," although , this year ,, there's a very good chance if they went , they won't be going next year , because one or both aren't likely to be breathing by next year . Who ever heard of a pandemic only taking out the dumb ones ? If folks had taken this seriously to begin with , and self isolated , the whole thing would have died out by now , and life could have gone back to normal , but no . Cats also catch mice , rats , squirrels , lizards , and bugs . In areas where other predators were removed , prey over populated the areas and stripped the land of so much in the way of plants until the areas became drought plagued and rivers dried up , causing starvation for the herbivors , until some predators were reintroduced into those areas . Amazingly , when wolves were reintroduced in public park lands , the plants had an opportunity to grow back , carbon was converted to oxygen , the rivers began to flow again , beavers began building dams again , and nature regained it's balance . I used to enjoy watching the hummingbirds . When a soon to be Momma cat chose to move in with me , I stopped putting out the hummingbird feeders and stopped putting out bird seed . Can't have both in the same areas . They still bring me lizards , but these days the lizards still have all four legs and their tails . The cats call me when they bring a lizard in , I praise the cats , catch the lizards and set them back outside .
