Representing Connecticut here! I only know 4 atheists here - 2 of them my spawn! I recently searched for groups but only found one in Westchester not local.
DUCHESSA replies on Dec 30, 2017:
I used to belong the one in Westchester; his original leader moved to CA and recently passed. I left said group.
I do envy the community participation and fellowship that Churches provide.

No so fast, friend. There are many A/A organization at the local level in many states. I have a list of them, state by state, and I could post it if somebody wants to investigate the issue.

@jeffeder But another member of said org. may know / have friends that are nearby....I know several Atheists in my area but they don't wish to belong to any of the A/A local groups....and those who do belong are not my cup of tea.

What do you say to your kids when a pet or family member dies?
clarkatticus comments on Dec 27, 2017:
It takes every ounce of my willpower to not play Monty Python's dead parrot skit. Just joking. I have dogs and I'm 61, when one dies I will been sad beyond belief, but I will get another rescue and start over. I may not believe in a god but I do believe in love. This is what I will tell children.
DUCHESSA replies on Dec 28, 2017:
I wish I could have pets in my apartment (not allowed). When we lived in a house, we had two cats and two dogs....they "lived" in the shed (insulated) and we were like wet rags against the pole when these pets passed.

Pro Choice all the way. Keep your politics and beliefs out of the bedroom and away from a woman's body. No one should dictate how or what they choose to do with whatever situation arises.
DUCHESSA replies on Dec 28, 2017:
I used to share good Atheist time with Polly Roinstein; she was the head of the Westchester Coalition for legal abortion. Polly always mentioned her chat on abortion with a very well known local senator; he told her "We don't care about the fetus...but we don't want to give women so much power and, at the same time, to lose a campaign issue.
