I had cocktails with Robert Downey, Jr. back in the 80s-sO fun! I had coffee and conversation with Tommy Lee Jones many times in 1982; we both had breakfast almost every morning at the same restaurant. Ahhh the eighties....
Davekp replies on Oct 8, 2018:
Big Tommy Lee fan.. got a tidbit?
So this is interesting.

Not to negate your trauma but.. Oh that's seriously funny!! I have a god guy at work that I bounce ideas off of. He's a creationist and... I'm not.. we get along fine. I'll ask him if he has any little "tricks" up his sleeve to ward off the devil in others. Come to think of it... he sometimes grabs...

@Sydland Yeah.. I don\t see it as arrogant.. it's a compulsion .. like an addiction.. thee's no turning from it for the believer who is deep in. Like that scene in the Exorcist just before Max Von Sydow gets tossed out the window and down that exterior brick staircase. He's in the room with the girl doing his bit with the holy water.. splashing it on her while yelling, "The body of Christ compels you!".. He just ain't stoppin' .. not for love nor money. At some point I have to look at it as an illness. And that deserves sympathy. Still wicked funny though. Thanks for the chuckle. :)

I went to a party in a house owned by the late Michael Hutchins in NT in Hong Kong. I saw Duncan Goodewe (diver) in London. I shop at the same supermarket as Ted Robbins (British Comedian). I live near Jane Horrocks ( Little voice/Bubbles from Ab fab). I live near a lot of local celebs. I met Jackie...

If you had to recommend someone watch 5 TV series, what would you pick?
QuinnDaniels comments on Sep 23, 2018:
I assume I am recommending to someone with my exact taste.... 1. Breaking Bad (this is an easy number one, all others in no particular order) 2. Mad Men 3. Game of Thrones 4. The Office(I can see the same stuff over and over and giggle every time!) 5. Star Trek Next Gen (I want to be as ...

Yes.. Picard is highly recommended as a role model. :)
Does evil exist? As non-believers do we still accept the concept of evil in its pure form?
mattersauce comments on Oct 8, 2018:
Evil exists, it is a human construct and although genetics, upbringing, and society are often the cause, it does not mean that it does not create evil in a very real and pure form.
Davekp replies on Oct 8, 2018:
@mattersauce Maybe they are only evil when they are committing their atrocities. Maybe the rest of the time they are rescuing kittens and such. Defining "Pure" would focus the discussion.

Davekp replies on Oct 8, 2018:
Hah!! Name drop time.. I child minded Anna (Lost Girl) when she was a preteen. It was really odd to watch her as an adult acting.. I wasn't a fan of the show.. found the writing. hmmm.. lacking.. to put it politely. But enjoyed tuning in once in a while to watch Ms. Silk strut her stuff ( and yes Silk is her real name not a stage nom de plume). I haven't seen her in person for many years but she was a real gem of a youngster. I can only imagine she is as giving a person now as she was then:)

Zero. However, I wouldn't have believed that the U.S. would have a black president in my lifetime. Especially before a female. That said, the increasing population of atheists and agnostics could bring it to bear sooner than later. With approximately 40% of the population currently being Arch ...

At what age did you stop believing in traditional love as perpetuated in music / movies / mainstream...
Piece2YourPuzzle comments on Oct 1, 2018:
I don't remember the exact age, but it definitely comes with experience. I always come back to a quote in a song (ironic?) about this topic. It's from "End of the Innocence" by Don Henley and Bruce Hornsby. It goes, "When "happily ever after" fails, and we've been poisoned by these fairy tales". ...
Davekp replies on Oct 4, 2018:
"Poisoned by these fairy tales." That lyric has been on my mind for years through a number of situations in life.
