I got hooked on the changing my thinking part. Whatever I thought before doesn't count this time around. I'm a different (aka: older) person now with different priorities. I can afford to be principled. If you are of the age of family building then it makes perfect sense for compromise and illogical promise making. lol

Thanks for the post. It put some perspective on the US health care issue I don't generally get to consider. As an Auslander I get news from a provider/ insurer angle, not usually from the "bring your own sheets" angle. I hope the momentum that is happening towards universality in your country speeds up in the near future.

I see how that feeling could be a hindrance to ones social progress but I could actually use a little more of that reservation gene. I get too open too fast sometimes and forget that, in general, people do not live with my libertine/ liberal values. But I also have to remember that.. nothing I am doing is bizarre or illegal or inhumane or any of that stuff. And really.. if it's not to their tastes.. It's good to get it out of the way. C'est la vie! Vive la difference! At this point in my life and age I don't have the time to spend investing heavily in relationships that don't match where I am or where I'm headed. And I don't relish tiptoeing around the edges of a moral high ground I don't share wondering when I'll fall off.

What are your plans for NYE?
