Guilty while being black in America (again) ? [theroot.com]
DenoPenno comments on Mar 8, 2019:
I saw this on a major TV network and it's terrible. Why would cops draw guns on a black man who appears to be picking up trash? I assume someone called to report this man and that most likely means they are living in the area. This incident and many others like it are a symptom of living in Trumpworld. Power has now been given to white nationalists. We have a world where racism raises it's ugly head again and the number one leader says it is OK. "Divide and conquer" is the name of the game none of this is a step forward.
I had a trully upsetting and shocking experience today.
DenoPenno comments on Mar 8, 2019:
I am trying to understand. In my life today I'm aware that I have done a complete 360 on many things and this issue is one of them. I have a few black friends. My ex of 12 years was Kenyan. My radar picks up on whites talking trash and some of them do it unawares. Some are flat out racists. I'm aware that Julie and Tommy can be as intelligent as anyone else and they should be allowed to be anyone they want to be. Yet, I find ignorant whites arguing on how they would feel if "god had made them a black man." It's insanity! I don't want to cry about this issue or feel any guilt. I do feel badly about it and I avoid anyone who is racist in any way whether they are aware of it or not.
There's no doubt in my mind that the Three-Fifths Compromise is still alive and well in the U.
DenoPenno comments on Mar 8, 2019:
The assault was not racially motivated but it involved 2 people of different races. OK. Has this guy ever kicked a coat hanger up the ass of a white man? It's a yes or no question.

This is interesting. Note also that in beer brewing light and it's absence play an important role. Also, beer is brewed in large but round containers. A big square container will not do the job. In many ways our Universe would seem to fit this also. What if we are all a brain in a beer vat? Should we fear being drank?

I take a stand here that the real Donald Trump is very angry at America for not giving him loans any longer. This leads to a drive for revenge and a possible inner desire to take down our country. If this was true it would explain his every action so far and fit right in with his ego.

This happens because of a great desire for profits and is motivated by greed. I can imagine that most banks will pick up on this and start doing it. So far mine has not.

DenoPenno comments on Mar 7, 2019:
Trump has projected his academic shortcoming onto Obama and at the recent CPAC meeting he is still talking Hillary and Obama. WTF is wrong with this man? He is really demented.
This seems so common sense, but so many people refuse to see it.

Luck is real but it is random. I bought 2 lotto tickets tonight. The randomness of "luck" would say my chances might be the same if I bought 4000 or more. Luck is totally random and has no moral implications. See my new book "Why Good Things Happen To Bad People."
As a nonbeliever, do you fear death?
DenoPenno comments on Mar 6, 2019:
I feared death when I was a believer and you would think you would be OK with death then because it's in "god's plan." Today I do not fear death. The fear I have is knowing I will die and have all that unfinished business. Regardless of how trivial the things we do really are, they are important to us. I might add that I prefer to die without pain if possible.

DenoPenno comments on Mar 6, 2019:
There is no one verse. The bible in general should do it. The Ten Commandments are mostly bad. They point out the jealous tribal god. In some of the old manuscripts god's name was "jealous." He outdone all the other gods all the time and killed men, women, and children. His followers should be happy to dash the heads of children upon the rocks. (You can Google these things and find verses.) Just use a few key words. Part of the harm is in keeping people ignorant. Many still teach that Lot's wife was turned into a pillar of salt. Just as many believe it. This is an impossibility.

DenoPenno comments on Mar 6, 2019:
Jewel, I have had that problem my entire life. In my case it has a lot to do with being a non-believer or just not having many things in common. I can understand when you are a smoker and they are not. (I'm a non-smoker.) I can understand if you drink and they do not. (I never drink and visit anyone.) I have a theist friend I have known since age 12 and his wife really doesn't like me being around. That's why I don't go there much. Sometimes I start thinking it's OK to discuss their subjects but they get uncomfortable discussing yours. People are weird.

DenoPenno comments on Mar 6, 2019:
Yes, I suppose god would do that when he found out things. I remember when Abraham had a child with his hand maiden and Islam came out of that. It wasn't in god's plan but there was nothing he could do about it. My religious friend told me this nonsense.
I get really frustrated hearing this: “There are good and bad people in every religion.
DenoPenno comments on Mar 6, 2019:
A believe cannot reason that way. To them god is a given and if you do not believe in him you must be angry at him. This is why we are "angry atheists." Also, believers have a book that says everybody believes in god. This is why they say there are no atheists in foxholes. If I'm in a foxhole gods are the last thing I'm thinking about. To illustrate how believers think I can tell you this story from my believing days. When I heard that Madalyn Murray O'Hair was murdered I assumed god did it or allowed it because she did not believe in him. Ignorant, yes, but this is the spell that believers are under.

places to meet people?
DenoPenno comments on Mar 6, 2019:
This is a very good question. In my day you found people at the river party that was rumored to be going on. That or the bowling alley even if you didn't bowl. Certain bars that played music. Today I don't drink and drive. Not even one. A library in my area might have 3 people. Recently I went to the Senior Center with a friend. Here I met half dead people and we got to say the pledge as well as to pray. Then we ate and talked. Not my cup of tea. I suspect a good place to meet people would be wherever it is that they sit around in a group all looking down at their phones and texting each other. Today you text Suzy about going to the event with you and she is sitting right by you. Or you can just text any words that show up on your screen and find out you are being played.
Do you prefer to be in a large group - are you happiest with a few close friends - or are you most ...
DenoPenno comments on Mar 6, 2019:
I sort of fit into that. My circle is almost down to me alone these days. I like being alone but I can be in a group and talk of many things. I work with the public but could also give a speech to a crowd. I cherish my alone time most of all. Even so, I remember working in a factory where I saw 2 men walking along and one points me out. He says - "See that man. He will follow you around talking to you." It was funny because the one man was following the other man at the time. Since I do love to talk you would think I would love texting. Not so. I hate it. Everyone walks around with there head down and smiling at their phone. Mine is in my pocket or I left it in my car. Not so long ago a person got my number and said now we can text each other. Why? I send a text only if you sent me one and it has some importance.
How do you manage to deal with theist people talking about God?
DenoPenno comments on Mar 6, 2019:
I know it is a hard road to travel. As most of my family dies off I get more irritated with believers in any form. They want to call you into a debate or discussion because they think you have just "fallen away" and they can get you to believe again. Their book compels them to do this. I have the advantage of studying that book and knowing more about it than the average person. This is also why I do not believe. I'm tired of looking at the sky and trees as evidence. I find no proof that an invisible being is concerned with us in any way. When the doorknockers show up all smiles and bibles in hand I'm starting to get outspoken like never before. Trying my new one now, I open the door for the First Blabtist Church and say "sorry, don't believe" and just close the door in their face. That usually does it.

The picture makes it look bad as I'm sure it really is. This looks horrific! The problem is that Facebook plays every side for manipulation and opinion. The idea is get all the info on you they can so that your opinions can influence others in some way, and all of it is about selling something. Today we are the product. A man I know tells me he reads all the bad info on Obama and Hillary there, and very shortly Trump will have them both in prison. What my feed shows is this same thing about Trump. Others apparently believe we are allowing babies to be born and then killing them. Still more think that Bush and Obama are set to be killed for alleged crimes. This is all just one tip of the iceberg. In the name of profits our world has went nuts! Do I believe the above pics? Yes I do, and I'm not a fan of Nuttiyahu. People living in a land where they fight over the land when there is no other land to give are likely to be in this type of battle. The Middle East has been in this forever and America has made a choice and drank the koolaid. We base it all on make believe books written by an invisible man.

For the most part there are more attackers on Facebook than anywhere else I've found. If someone's info is wrong just post a link to a trusted site that gets the info right and that should settle it. This can be done without pages of debate, and I do not like debate. The problem with debate is that the original subject is lost in all the ongoing pages of reply.

Your words ring true to me because I have found that once you become agnostic/atheist you have a different shared kinship with other human beings. Everything becomes different. My own daughters tell me they "believe in god in their own way." Everybody I know wants to give some ability to their invisible god. The answer to almost anything for the world at large is to "pray." Talking with my lifelong theist friend about the universe brings him to "god did it" when we reach a point that should be answered with "we don't know." I'm pushing 73 and find more people carrying guns. I'm also afraid but apparently not of the same things they are. Most of the above makes me feel alone. This site is a breath of fresh air!

Your faith is determined by where you were born or where you were brainwashed. Do you agree?
DenoPenno comments on Mar 5, 2019:
In most cases I can agree. You are unlikely to find a Pentecostal living in Iran who was also born in Iran. When some people wake up they determine accurately that gods are myths. Others just keep on trying to believe by changing the background information. This last one is the true insanity of religion. I've had others tell me that I could not have tried all the religions. Why would I have to? This is proof that they never stopped believing.

DenoPenno comments on Mar 5, 2019:
I love Democratic Socialism. Without it I would have money problems with no Social Security. On that issue alone the Republicans would have less money for their masters because in many cases all over America someone would have to be taking care of their parents at home. No money for nursing homes any longer. You cannot take care of elderly parents and still work a job. The above is only one issue in a very long line of opposition to much needed services. The GOP is out of touch and they seem to only support Pacman Capitalism. Real capitalism is where you actually build a better mouse trap.

DenoPenno comments on Mar 4, 2019:
The current look of things would make me think it is theists. Why? It's because they want their good works to guarantee them a place in heaven. Agnostics and atheists are really close to being the same but even though they would help a person in need, they might be held back by the total ignorance of the theist. Of course, theists are not perfect even though they wanna be. I took a friend to a food pantry one time and they have to hear a bit about Jesus and then pray before you get the free food.

Why the Republicans' New "Red Scare" Tactics Ring False [commondreams.
DenoPenno comments on Mar 4, 2019:
Indeed the false "red scare" goes back into Eisenhower days and is put on Bernie and AOC wrongly. The move now is to convince everyone (or as many as possible) that there is no chance for us unless we re-elect Trump. I'm going on 73 and I've never seen, heard, or read more political lies in my life. Democratic Socialism is nothing at all like we are being told. In fact, social security falls right into that along with universal healthcare. We are always told to "follow the money." This is good advice when investigating something. The new "red scare" is coming about because people other than the common man want to **keep that money**. This is why we are lied to. Partisan speak is always what it is about to many people. This is a diversion they will cause because your party loyalty is known. I don't belong to either party by design. Recently Trump and his supporters want you to believe that Democrats support efforts to murder aborted babies. The idea here seems to be delivering a full term baby and then deciding to kill it. Nothing even close to this is happening or in the realm of happening. It's Trump and his "partisan speak" to cause you to switch to his GOP. Wrong, and nothing but lies, this is now used just like the false red scare.

Does it seem to others that previous alcoholics turn to god as their new addiction?
DenoPenno comments on Mar 1, 2019:
I went this way in reverse. I became an alcoholic because I had "failed myself and my god." For years I drank excessively. Still enjoying a 12 pack on the weekends when the wife and I busted. Once I became atheist I slowed up but was unaware of it at first. I still drink and there is beer in the frige from way back. Tonight I bought a 4 pack of specialty stout made in Ireland. I could get around to drinking some of that tomorrow. Even so with this all in reverse of what you posted, I was probably more fun as a drunk and I'm sure I take myself more seriously now than I did back when I drank heavily. What the serious me sees is that religion was a big assed mistake all the way around. Just today in social media someone posted 3 bible verses to explain, Trump, the world, and things in America right now. I was very quick to tell them that their bible really says nothing about these things at all. There is no way that it could, and I prefer not to get into hypothetical nonsense about the bible. They surprised me! She said she would keep her belief and also respect mine. We would still be friends and she would not use the bible verses any longer with me. :)
Today is my youngest daughters 25th birthday. Not quite sure where all those years went.

DenoPenno comments on Mar 1, 2019:
I agree with your words and I identify. As a one time believer this entire concept has escaped me today. It's hard to look back and give thoughts and feelings that back up my one time belief. The best I can say is that I thought my bible was "evidence" and so many think that way today as well. It took me years to break away and it was a gradual process. My study of the bible was part of this along with logic and a need of evidence.

DenoPenno comments on Mar 1, 2019:
Funny, but you never know. It appears that our master deal maker came away a bit upset and they don't even go into detail of any kind on what was wanted or offered. I heard that Kim wanted a lot of money, his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and to be a member of the Mickey Mouse Club. Trump said "no deal." Trump doesn't want competition.

Yes, we should remember that everything is all about Ceasar Chrisp! What the hell does a cross have to do with fallen soldiers? If the fallen dead are Christian in one country how do you explain that they were fighting other Christians in another country? So much for the hypocrisy of the cross.

DenoPenno comments on Feb 27, 2019:
I like Kamala Harris and will vote for her unless she goes totally bonkers.
The trump proclaimed crisis at the southern border has been voted down.
DenoPenno comments on Feb 27, 2019:
With less votes against Trump's wall the Senate will vote against the fake emergency also and then Trump will veto this. The whole strategy changes but Baby Trump will keep trying. He will slowly learn that he cannot simply do whatever he wants to. His rabid GOP does** want to be re-elected** and if they were all for his stupid wall in the first place it could have been approved in the first 2 years.
Kamala Harris thinks we need to pay for past transgressions. Do you agree?

DenoPenno comments on Feb 27, 2019:
Poverty is profitable. Poverty for the masses is how the wealthy stay rich.
Congressman Gaetz (R -FL) is an example of just how smarmy Trump Republicans have become.
DenoPenno comments on Feb 27, 2019:
At this point Gaetz made a threat to Cohen. There is simply no other way to take that. Gaetz should know better and we all know that he does. As for him, Sanders, and others claiming that Cohen is a liar we have to consider that Cohen was Trump's fixer. This means that Cohen knew all the secrets and any time something needed fixed, Cohen would fix it. Once that soaks in, how would you call Cohen a liar? Who do we suspect the real liars to be?

Spotted on a church sign on my way to work: “Baby lives matter Stop the madness” ?
DenoPenno comments on Feb 26, 2019:
While some people may take you to task on "fake baby graveyards" the fact remains that some states go into abortion so religiously that legislation is in the works for even a miscarry to have a funeral and be buried as a living person who died. I don't think you could get any more extreme than this.
History will judge Mr.
DenoPenno comments on Feb 26, 2019:
The problem with tweets like this is that his supporters believe him. A couple of people have come up with ideas of mother and doctor deciding to execute babies after they are born and this is instantly taken as a Democratic political position. It's taken as the new accepted position on abortion and it simply is not so and is not happening. Some off the wall nutjob has this opinion and suddenly it is a Democratic political fact. Not so at all. I'm pro choice and one of the first to admit that Dr. Kermit Gosnell is a murderer and should be doing life in prison. He would have gotten the death penalty except that plea deals were made. What Gosnell did has nothing to do with accepted pro choice ideas. Gosnell, staff, and patients committed murder. The pro life group thinks that if you do not believe as they do you must be wanting to kill babies. This is just not so. If you think that poor women are paying $350 and up to abort a baby rather than take birth control pills you lack the skills of logical thinking. In fact, many pharmacists will not prescribe a "morning after pill" because of their religious beliefs. They need another job.

Everyone should know by now that you don't tell Donald Trump anything. He simply will not listen. If Trump and Kim hug and kiss and then go to bed together it does nothing for the safety of Americans and the rest of the world.
Should we let that ISIS bride back into the US?
DenoPenno comments on Feb 25, 2019:
Ethical questions here on this issue, but for starters was she born here? If so they can weave all around her being a diplomat's daughter all they want. Born in America grants you citizenship. The next thing coming up is "was she turned?" Most likely from what we see on her background. If they allow her back in she will likely be watched closely from now on.
Does being single makes a man stronger. ??

It's a sexual fallacy. If the single man doesn't jerk off or have nucturnal emissions he was believed to be stronger. Wet dreams will mess you up every time.
