Among all this flutter we find the Russian tricolor (white over blue over red).
Druvius comments on May 23, 2022:
Ukraine is fascist, not Russia. In fact Ukraine's open embrace of Nazis is a big part of the reason for this war.
Druvius replies on May 23, 2022:
@Flyingsaucesir I didn't claim anyone has a right to invade, though no doubt the US would if either allied with Russia or China.
You think the West really cares about Ukrainian citizens?
Druvius comments on May 21, 2022:
"We will choke their rivers with our dead!" Or in this case Ukraine's dead. Yes, this is 100% a classic US proxy war. We are sacrificing Ukrainian women and children for America's empire.
Druvius replies on May 23, 2022:
@p-nullifidian Even if it didn't start as a US proxy war, it is one now.

Druvius replies on May 23, 2022:
@Flyingsaucesir No, the Azov battalion and others are facts, not propaganda. LOL, you do know that Zellensky has jailed his opposition and any press that doesn't support him, hardly an example of a free press? Yes, Putin is a thug and an autocrat, so what? The twaddle that this is some sort of epic struggle between freedom and democracy is unadulterated propaganda. The US and NATO did what they could to bring this war about, and are doing everything in their power to prolong it. It's a US proxy war now. They should be trying to end it, not prolong it.
What side of history do you want to be on?
Druvius comments on May 23, 2022:
"Vote for us because we aren't the GOP" has been the most failed election strategy in American history. Yet many people still seem to think it's a viable strategy. Trump winning in 2024 looks more likely every day sadly enough.
Druvius replies on May 23, 2022:
@Flyingsaucesir No, you can't. But that doesn't mean he can't run or be elected, and jailing him would just be more "evidence" that the libs were conspiring against him.

Look at the facts here. Putin moves in and kills thousands of Ukrainians causing prices to skyrocket worldwide and other nations wanting to join NATO. Then there has to be money involved in all the re-building that is to be done later. It's all about money.

Do animals have morality?
Wallace comments on May 17, 2022:
I didn't know nonhuman animals ever showed "fairness"; this seems (nearly?) equivalent to the concept of justice to me.
Druvius replies on May 18, 2022:
Yeah, if you give a chimp a birthday cake, you better give them all birthday cakes, or homicidal rage might ensure. That's kind of proto-fairness in that they can tell when they're being short changed, but I think it's a stretch to call it any kind of morality.
Do animals have morality?
xenoview comments on May 17, 2022:
We don't know if other animals have morals. We can't ask them.
Druvius replies on May 18, 2022:
We can't ask them because they can't comprehend grammar, no animal can parse the difference between "Man bites dog" and "Dog bites man." Though calling this difference morality, as the OP seems to be doing, is semantic hair splitting.

@HankHunter13 The people and government of Crimea voted overwhelmingly to join Russia after a US backed Nazi coup shot their way into power in Ukraine ... and made it their first order of business passing laws making ethnic Russians (IE essentially everyone in Crimea) second class citizens. Crimea never wanted to be part of Ukraine in the first place. Calling self determination an invasion and occupation is western propaganda, which I'm quite familiar with, so I didn't bother to read past that mischaracterization.

@Lorajay Hitler appealed to a wider base, but yes, they were both astute politicians when it came to molding public opinion and personal loyalties. And both were blinded by it as well. As the Allied bombing campaign started really taking off, the Luftwaffe started a brilliant campaign. Lone fighters would lurk near Allied airbases at night and attack the bombers as they arrived home after dawn. Single planes couldn't really be tracked well by radar, the bombers were often flying alone at that point, their crews exhausted, planes damaged. Easy prey. The Allies would have had to deploy large numbers of fighters to prevent this. Fortunately they didn't have to, when Hitler heard about the program, he cancelled it. Why? He wanted the bombers shot down over Germany to help the German population's morale! Trumpian logic for sure.

We did create this problem, that's a fact. Claiming otherwise is a lie, or shockingly ignorant. The Earth's climate has been stable for about ten thousand years, it's now changing at a rate only seen once or twice in Earth's history after things like enormous asteroid/comet strikes. A thirty foot rise in sea level would be catastrophic to human civilization. The idea we should just adapt to a problem we are creating is like saying "So what if we are burning our house down, we'll adapt." Yes, but it would be VASTLY cheaper to just stop burning the house down. I'm guessing you're a right winger because of the poor logic and repeating fossil fuel industry propaganda.
