Five years ago I retired after 28 years of teaching high school biology, and now I am a gondolier. I'm not kidding. I wear a striped shirt and a straw boater hat, and sing O Sole Mio while rowing a gondola. It is lovely work. I meet wonderful people, get plenty of exercise, and spend as much time as I like on the water. Best of all, I've learned to row those beautiful Venetian boats. One year ago, I began a second retirement job as a marine naturalist interpreter--like a park ranger, but at the beach.
I enjoy a lot of outdoor activities, including stand up paddleboarding, hiking, birding, and exploring tidepools. I also enjoy bookstores, coffee shops, and "dinner and a movie" nights out. I read, write, speak, listen, and travel well.
