I am so looking forward to when the grandchildren are old enough to have permanent memories. I want to make memories with them, teach them stuff that only I can teach them and create a legacy to last beyond my time. That is what it is about.

Thank you for sharing your journey, and the wisdom you've gained. The good news is your legacy has not been written yet, you can make it a great one. You haven't accomplished everything yet, you have time to add to it. The remaining years haven't been written yet, you get to influence that. Go forth and conquer!

Yellow makes me think of SamSam who apparently loves the color Lellow and it is the only color she can name at the moment. And her doting Grammy has been persuaded to make a rainbow quilt (something along these lines) for Miss SamSam for when she moves to a regular bed in a few months. Yes, it did not require much persuasion. Doting Grammy who will be unemployed in a week and will in theory have time to get that done, along with everything else.

Soooooo y'all know I'm a word nerd? And the queen of Google. And when I googled I found http://mentalfloss.com/article/29942/which-came-first-orange-color-or-orange-fruit The citrus definitely got named first. The earliest recorded use of orange the fruit in English is from the 1300s and came to us from the Old French orenge, adapted from the Arabic nāranj, from the Persian nārang, from the Sanskrit nāranga ("orange tree"). The Sanskrit word's origin is unclear, but it might come from a Dravidian word meaning "fragrant." The word's use as a color name doesn't crop up for another 200 years, in the early 1500s. English speakers probably didn't have a specific name for the color until the fruit was widely available in their markets and inspired one. Before then, linguists believe people generally referred to orange as "yellow-red," ġeolurēad in Old English.

I had a "friend" that all he wanted was to watch Downton Abbey with me. He was going to brunch with family, doing fun things, and all he wanted was TV at my place with me. I finally confronted him, and that was all he was going to ever want. I was a nice person, but. Yeah, watch your own damn TV, I'm busy.

Has anyone here had weight loss surgery? (No judging)
HippieChick58 comments on Sep 2, 2018:
I had to find a new doctor, the doctor I loved retired and her replacement then moved to a different health system. I got a recommendation from a coworker. In our first visit my new doctor gestured with her pen towards my midsection and asked if I had considered bariatric surgery. I went searching for another new doctor. So, in my job as a claims examiner for short term disability I have recently had two claims for ladies that had bariatric surgery and are now having malnutrition issues from it. One is pregnant and has been off work for several weeks early in her pregnancy and is now on bed rest for the remainder of her pregnancy. The other lady is just is not doing well, I don't remember details. With bariatric surgery you have to adjust your eating habits for the rest of your life. I know me. If I'm not willing to make those adjustments now, I know I won't be after surgery. I'm stubborn that way. Then after having those two claims, I'm damn glad I chose to avoid that option. That being said I also know folks for whom it has been great. I read quite a bit about it in the past and it just never seemed to me to be the best route for me.
This is something to think about ?

I used to have a golden and a cat. I'd sometimes take naps during the day with the dog behind me and the cat in front. I'd dream I heard the doorbell (frequent recurring dream.) I'd check the critters. If they were still sleeping I knew it was a dream. Chief, the golden, was convinced that the doorbell meant visitors for him and he did a happy dance as soon as he heard it. No way to sleep through the doorbell if he was in the house or on the bed. 75 pounds of happy dance does that to you. The cat simply hid when she heard the doorbell. Now if I hear creepy sounds at night I have a baseball bat in the closet. Last creepy sound was the robovac going on at night. I needed to do some reprogramming....

When we (2 of my girls and me) took my heart cat to be released from her pain we were there. We held her and talked to her as she took her last breaths. We told her how much we loved her and we'd never forget her. She would be the benchmark of which all future fur babies would be scored. Yes, we loved her that much and I'm crying as I type this. Miss Millie was the most loving, people bonded cat ever. She was and forever will be my heart cat. I love my current cats Zelda and Xena, but if I could have had Miss Millie for 20 more years it would still have been too soon to let her go. Being there for my cats/kids is what you do as a parent and as a good human being.

Mothers Day 2008 or 2009. I had let my ex know I wanted a flower bed built in the back yard. My ex has a Xian Hymnal website. That year he wrote an Easter hymn. He used music from another hymn and wrote new words. Nothing about mothers or love or children. He dedicated that hymn to me on his website. When I opened the envelope and read the words and the dedication I almost barfed. He should not have quit his day job and I hate poetry anyway. I said "thank you." and changed the subject. In our divorce I specified that my name had to be taken off his website. Gag me, freaking gag me. I filed for divorce a few months later
