Do you have a room in your home that is "your room?
HippieChick58 comments on Jul 1, 2018:
I have a "sewing" room. I have a sewing machine, serger, embroidery machine, many scissors, rotary cutters, yarn, fabric and craft supplies. Yes, it does need its own room. The closet is full and overflowing with fabric. I also store stuff in there, like wrapping supplies. And yes it needs some organization. Any quilter will tell you that you NEVER throw away scraps, it might just what you need to finish a project and save you a trip to the fabric store. Fabric stores are wonderful dangerous places. I go in for one item thinking 15 minutes max and come out 4 hours later with 24 or 30 new items.

The cycling is part of the rhythms of your life, and it is normal. It helps to make your home your safe area. Get rid of stuff that doesn't bring you peace of mind or isn't useful, or doesn't have sentimental value. I love my home, it is my nest where I can shut out the world, however sometimes I am alone too much. I try to keep busy, I have lots of projects that bring me pleasure. I quilt, and other crafts. Also try to keep your place clean, clean is better for your mental health. And then my girls are here too, my cats Zelda and Xena.

Do you have experience with a parent with Alzheimer's/Dementia?
HippieChick58 comments on Jun 30, 2018:
Read up so you understand dementia. You don't mention how old your mom is. It is considered Early Onset if she is in her 50s, and that is not a good sign. Many people with Alzheimer's tend to do better early in the day, and the night time brings on the dementia, otherwise known as sundowning which sounds like may be going on with your mom. Dementia is one cruel ass disease, it robs the victim of their personality and leaves only the shell.

Age range for dating
HippieChick58 comments on Jun 30, 2018:
My kids are 26 to 33, I am 60. A few years ago they "strongly suggested" that I date someone at least closer to my age than to the age of my oldest. So, doing the math, someone not more than 13 years younger than I am. I'm comfortable with that. On the high side, depends on how well they have aged.
Can anyone do this in only four words?

Bad dates, let's hear them!
HippieChick58 comments on Jun 30, 2018:
Bad dates, so many really. One dude talked about his baby mama drama allllll through dinner. I got the subject changed for about 8 minutes total three different times. He is mostly why I vowed to not date men with small children. One guy who was in recovery for a TBI, not able to work any longer being cared for by family. He did live independently but family was keeping tabs on him. He was looking for a nurse, and that is not what I'm looking for. He had yellow teeth and really poor social skills. Yeah the TBI explains the social skills, but personal hygiene... ewww. One guy talked about zombies all through dinner, that was all. Not a zombie fan, don't understand the fascination. There was the guy who was looking for someone to help him figure out what he wanted to do with his life. He was 44, living at moms. Just left a call center job because he was bored. I told him I was finished raising children and wasn't looking for a project.

Do you buy bottled water? I have hot and cold running water at home, why do I need all that plastic?
HippieChick58 comments on Jun 28, 2018:
I have two 40 oz hydroflasks, stainless steel insulated bottles. One is for work, one for home. I never buy plastic bottles of water if I can help it. Ice stays frozen for nearly 48 hours. I just keep refilling them. My office put in drinking fountains with a spigot for bottles. We can refill cold water to our heart's content. I have numerous other water bottles. No plastic bottles in my house.

HippieChick58 comments on Jun 28, 2018:
I have never had a pure black cat. When I was looking for a cat after my old girl died I wanted a ginger, and found an adorable ginger. Then I wanted a companion for her, and one of my coworkers was fostering a kitten that needed a home as she had a vacation scheduled. Color didn't matter. I just like cats, someday I will have a solid black cat.

HippieChick58 comments on Jun 28, 2018:
I actually have started Christmas shopping! Oldest daughter had a baby 6 weeks or so ago. Last Thursday when I saw her she says, "do you remember Monkey Baby?" Well, yes I do. She tells me she wants me to find one for her son for Christmas. Monkey Baby was a stuffed monkey that had a pacifier. All the girls loved Monkey Baby. So, Queen of Google that I am I did my research and found Monkey Baby and it arrived yesterday. This is a Dakin stuffed toy that was made in 1985 and then discontinued. I don't know if I can do this in order, but I was abused as a young child. My mom died when I was 14 and at 15 I got the step monster from hell. Joining the Army changed me in good ways, travel overseas and learning how other people live is life changing. Having children was life changing in so many ways. When my oldest got the the age I was when I was abused it freed me because I was then able to fully understand it wasn't my fault. I was too young to know anything and too young to have prevented it. That awakened the Mama Bear in me, I protect my cubs and it doesn't take much for someone to become my cub. And divorce changed me, I found out again how resilient I am.

HippieChick58 comments on Jun 27, 2018:
My ex is a webmaster. He has a xian hymnal website. For mother's day 2008 he dedicated a hymn to me on his website. He used the music to an existing hymn, and wrote a poem to fit the music. There was nothing in the words about mothers or love or anything, it was an Easter hymn. Jaw hit floor. My kids were watching and I said "oh how nice." And Easter being in April, mother's day in May. I had asked for something for the garden and I got a god damned hymn because he couldn't even bother to shop or ask one of the girls to shop. It was dedicated to me on his website. In the divorce I asked for all mention of my name to be removed from the site. Worst gift ever.
